Chapter 3 - The First Shift

Mike glared at Vincent. "Fucking hell, keep it down!" he grumbled. Vincent just ignored him, his eyes were focused on you. Fritz tapped you on the shoulder to get your attention. He offered you a Donut that you gladly accepted, while an argument between Mike and Vincent erupted.

Scott came to the scene soon after and tried his best to calm the two down. Once that was dealt with he quickly apologized for being late. "I'm sorry for being so late! There was a traffic jam after an accident", he said while unlocking the doors to Freddy's. It was 11:52 by now and you had to hurry to the office. Everyone immediately went to their places. Mike was in charge of the cameras, Fritz was on the left vent, Vincent checked the Hallway, and Jeremy was in charge of winding up the music box.

That only left the right vent for you. "Jeremy wait, could you let (Y/N) wind up the music box tonight?" Scott asked him before he sat down. He looked up at him with a confused look. "You know she's mute. (Y/N) can't possibly check the vents without a way to alarm us." Jeremy did not look happy about it and sighed, walking over to the vent. "I should have a solution by tomorrow", Scott assured him. He just ignored him and sat by the vent, waiting for the shift to start. Meanwhile, you sat down on the chair next to Mike and pulled the music box on your lap.

Scott checked the time, "it's going to be midnight soon. Mike make sure she has a mask, there should be a spare one in the bottom drawer". Mike looked through the bottom drawer until he found an old Freddy mask. He leaned over and handed it to you saying, "put this on when one of the others shouts 'mask'".

Suddenly the bell chimed, signaling midnight. Immediately you wound up the music box. Then you looked over to watch what Mike was doing. Sometimes you heard the buzzing from the vent lights, either Scott or Vincent clicking the button of his flashlight, and the corrupted noises from the Cameras. Every few minutes you checked back up on the box, making sure that it was always wound up. Mike didn't tell you much about what would happen if you failed to keep it playing. This got rather boring quick. Your mind wandered back to earlier.

You fixed your eyes on Vincent. He had been so nice to you today, despite his bad attempts at flirting with you. You wondered if this was just an act or not. Not too long after you got ripped out of your thoughts by something standing in the hallway. It was that bear from the stage. "Why is that thing here?", you wondered. You tapped Mike's shoulder, to get his attention, then you pointed to the animatronic. "Oh, Toy Freddy is already here. Don't freak out, ok (Y/N)? Whatever happens", he was being extremely serious. You were confused, but you nodded. It didn't answer how it got there or why it was there, but you just had to deal with it now.

"Weird that he came before anyone else today", Vincent suddenly said. "Bonnie is on the move too, but I lost him on the cams. Maybe he went into a vent already?". You heard Jeremy press the light on the vent, "nothing yet, but he'll probably come soon." Fritz pressed his light shortly after, "nothing here yet either. Hey Mike, is balloon boy still in his place?". Mike switched to said camera, "yup. Thank god too, don't need him so early into the night". You looked back into the hallway, even more confused than before. Meanwhile, the guys chatted about some hangout plans you weren't involved in.

You gasped when you saw that Freddy had come closer. This got Mike's attention, "get your masks ready, guys. Freddy will come in soon". Not long after Vincent shouted "mask" and everyone, including you, put their Freddy mask on. The Animatronic suddenly came into the room and looked all around, while the lights started to flicker. After a short while, that felt like ages, he left. You could hear the echoing metal click of their endoskeleton with each step. Everyone took their mask off and you immediately checked the music box.
