The Flaw

Chapter 1

Baileys p.o.v.

June 27, 2000

It was my 6th birthday.  I cant wait for Luke to be here.  I mean come on, we are the bestest-estest of friends, why wouldnt he be here?  I really cant wait for everyone to be here too.  Grammy and grampy and mommy. Mommy said daddy cant make it because hes wont be in town. Hes been gone for a while now though.  One time i seen mommy crying after she got off the phone before she told me daddy couldn't make it. It made me sad but i can hopefully see him another time and hug him.

"Bailey dear, your friend is here" yelled mommy to me upstairs. 

"YAYYYYY"

I ran down the huge staircase to see my best friend Luke.  I ran all around the house to find him and eventually found him sitting on the couch drinking a juicy pouchy.

"Lukey!!! Hurry up we have to go play princess in the castle outside in playhouse!!!"

"Ok one second, i will be right out Bail Bail", Luley told me as he went to throw the juicy pouch in the trash.

Me and lukey raced to my pink house and i ran inside and went to a window.  Luke got Spidey, my puppy, and we started playing.

"Save me Lukey, Spidey is going to get me!!!"

"No need to fear, prince luke is at your service!" Lukey said as he ran to pick up Spidey and put her inside.

"Your safe now ms Bailey"

"How can i repay you for your bravery?"

"A kiss will do, if thats ok" Lukey told me as he leaned in.

"Ok" i giggled and kissed him real quick.

"Bailey, Luke, picture time!" Mommy called out to us. 

"Ok mommy" i started out into a run to her.

I started crying harder, thinking back to when we first kissed, even if we did just do it as a part of a game and it meant nothing at the time. I shouldnt have been so stupid to not see how much he meant.

  I flipped to another picture in the book and smiled at it. It was the day he asked me.to go to the homecoming dance with him in 9th grade.

He was acting really weird today. Usually luke tells me everything. Everything, literally.  All my mom did was bring up the homecoming dance and he started to act weird.  I asked him what was wrong but he didnt say.

"So are you both going to the dance in a few days?" my mom asked.

"Mom..." i said pleadingly because i know what she was going to do next.

"Well i was just asking because i didn't know if you two were going to go together or not" she simply said.

Honestly i didn't like him like that. He has been my friend for a long time and i don't want to ruin our friendship.

"Alright then, i am going to work now. Behave you two"

"Alright mom will do"

I heard the door close behind her and her car started up.  I watched it pull out of the driveway and turned around to face Luke.
