After years of hard work and suffering, there I was, at the top. My dream had become a reality and I stood watching as before me everyone gazed at my work. Murmurs of awe were heard everywhere, complementing my new fashion line. Lights strobed around me, and cameras were flashing. All of a sudden I was on a red carpet, waving my hand at the admirers I had accumulated over time. People pushed and shoved in order to ask me for an autograph. A mother even leaned in with her baby, asking me to kiss the baby's cheek.

As I made my way from the outdoor gala into a theatre, rented out just to present several artists' works, I sent my mum and dad good wishes in my head. I couldn't believe that I finally reached my goal. Being a designer had been what I had dreamed of since I was a small girl. I had finally managed to find my seat at the very front of the vast, and packed, theatre. I felt my hands grip my dress as I sat in my chair. The room smelled old and worn out.

The awards were finally about to be announced, a spotlight landed right on me, a guy on the stage looked at me and smiled. He opened his mouth...

"Beep beep beep beep beep," continuously I heard him as he got louder and louder. The theatre started shaking, the wood supports on the ceiling started crumbling. I picked up my dress and started running, and yet, the dress itself turned chalky. His beeps continued getting louder and louder...

I woke up with a start and gazed over to my overly loud phone. I sighed in discontent and rolled over to grab it from the nightstand, turning the alarm off. Before the screen dimmed, I got a peek at the alarm's title, "You're gonna be late, HURRY UP!"

I sighed, another day at the same old boring job I do. I laid back onto my bed and closed my eyes for a few moments... Wait.. Today I had an interview. This was my chance to climb into a higher position!

"At this rate I'm going to be late! Why didn't you wake me up, Rat???" I glared at my pet, who wasn't actually a rat, but a hamster. I jolted out of bed and scrambled about my room looking for the clothes I had laid out the night before and quickly put them on. A black pencil skirt, that perfectly passed the finger-tip test, black high heels that weren't too high, a white shirt with ruffles, and to top it off, a cute black blazer. I contemplated brushing my teeth but came to the conclusion that I had no time so I just grabbed a mint, although gross, it had to be done. I picked up my oh-so professional suitcase, blew a kiss at Rat, and ran for the door.

I bust the door open and slam it shut, not even bothering to lock the door. Rat should guard my apartment. Well, there's really nothing to steal but instant noodles in my cupboard at the moment, anyways. I started heading to my right, running down the block. I'm almost to the end of the block when I start to notice that nothing looks familiar. I keep running but when I look back, I realize I'm going the opposite way.

"Hey, watch out!" I hear a voice call towards me.

I turn my head forward again just as I collide with something. I'm stunned for a few seconds and then regain my sight. I guide my gaze upwards and find a young man standing there, a flower pot in one of his hands.

The guy standing above me holds his other hand out for me, he has a concerned look on his face. I reach for it and take ahold of it, also taking in his features. His skin is sun-kissed, and his hands are slightly calloused, showing years of work. His hair is slightly messy and of a dirty blond color. I also take note of his chartreuse eyes.

I pull myself up to my feet with his help. Finally registering it was a person and not an object I had bumped into, I quickly apologized.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't see where I was going."

"It's alright, I'm glad you seem to be fine," he responds with a soft and charming smile.

He glances down, and my eyes follow. My mouth goes ajar when I notice he has his eyes on my now open suitcase, the papers strewn about on the sidewalk. I duck down and start to gather them, as quickly as I can. The guy lowers himself to help me straighten out my documents, amongst them lies my resume, which he seems to scan quickly.

He looks at me, and I see the hint of a smile forming as he hands me my papers, "It looks like you're getting interviewed today... Elena?"

"Yeah... oh yeah!" I had completely forgotten that I was running late, "Thank you... uh, I have to get going!"

I start running away as I close my suitcase. If I sprint fast enough, I'll be able to make it, maybe. I won't have time to fix my hair and such, but maybe air-blown hair will be the next trend.

The newfound chilly autumn wind cuts at my cheeks and my clothes, and as I run as fast as my heels can take me, I hear the guy's soft yet strong voice follow after me, "It was nice meeting you, Elena!"

Fall was approaching.
