Chapter three

I decided to change this book from one shots to a actual book. I will make another later with one shots, but I kinda like this plot and am going with it.

Sophie POV
    I paced outside of Grady's office, waiting for him to release my new boyfriend. My heart skipped a beat at the thought. Keefe and I were dating. Wow.

  Edaline walked up to me. "Hon, you ok?" She asked concerned with a hint of amusement.

  "Um, well my new boyfriend is being interrogated by my overprotective father who doesn't really like him anyway. Otherwise, I'm fine."

  "Oh Sophie" Edaline said, guiding me to the living room and having me sit down on the sofa next to her. "I'm sure Grady will learn to love him. Besides, your heart was just recently broken by a boy, and, well your father doesn't really like Keefe, but if you want to be with him, we respect that."

    "Ok Mom." I muttered, still concerned. Then Grady and Keefe came out, Grady looking somewhat satisfied.

"Fine, you two can be together" he grumbled, walking into the kitchen. I got up and laced my fingers through Keefe's.

Keefe exhaled, as if he had been holding his breath. "So Foster, what do you want to do now?"

I shrugged. Edaline waved us upstairs. "Go, I'll make mallowmelt." She told us. For a few hours we sat in my room talking and laughing (and eating a little bit of mallowmelt). I show Keefe my iPod and how it works, and we talked and laughed about how humans live. He even stole a few kisses here and there.

After awhile, Keefe had to go back to the Shores of Solace, but he promised to see me the next day. I walked him to the door and we kissed goodbye.

Afterwards, I overheard Edaline and Grady talking in the kitchen. I stood bye the doorway and listened for a moment.

".... although you did except Keefe sooner then I thought you would. What changed your mind?" Edaline asked, both curious and satisfied.

"Well," Grady started. "I asked him what made him sure he could be a responsible boyfriend and protect my daughter. He responded 'I would do anything to see Sophie smile, even if I had to die, or be tortured, or have her leave me. I love Foster with all my heart.' And I—I believe him Edaline."

      I sighed quietly, creeping back to my room. I was glad that Grady approved, but I was even more so overwhelmed with joy that Keefe had really said that about me and really did mean it.
