A loud yawn escaped Canada's mouth as he shut his locker with a clang that irritated his hearing. It still felt too early to be at school - at this new college, school started almost half an hour earlier than regular school times. It was well, whatever. The boy carelessly slung his backpack over one shoulder and slugged to his form room, where the day would really begin. His eyes were dull and tired as he walked, not paying any attention to the other people that passed him as he travelled through the long corridor.
Suddenly, a clamorous shouting caught his attention and snapped him from his drowsiness. Through a group of gathered students, Canada could just see two year twelve boys shoving each other. One noticeably tall boy pinned the smaller boy against the locker, grabbing him by the collar. His baggy red eyes showed anger as he scowled at his opponent.
Intrigued and curious, Canada sped his pace to investigate what was going on. The taller boy that wore a brown ear-flapped hat was throwing foreign words at the other student. By the tone of those words, even though nobody understood it, it sounded like insults. Canada shoved past the other kids in the group to get a front row view. "Ты высокомерный ублюдок! Я тебя убью, я буду!" The taller boy yelled, tightening his grip on the shirt collar.
"Listen dude, I have no clue what you're saying!" The shorter boy laughed, seeming unusually cool about the whole situation. If anything, his life was probably in danger. But maybe underneath those dark black sunglasses that he wore on his face, there was fear showing in his eyes. "He's saying that he's going to kill you." A small girl called out. This blue and yellow girl wore a flower crown on her head. Judging by the similar features on her face that matched the tall boys', Canada remotely guessed that she was his sister.
The pinned opponent chuckled. "No, I don't think he will." He snickered. He seemed quite full of himself, and Canada couldn't help but slip a smile at his cockiness. It was oddly charming, in a weird way. Growling, the taller boy shoved his enemy against the cold metal locker, sending a rippling rattling sound. The short boy let out an exasperated huff as he was momentarily stunned, dropping to his feet as the tall boy suddenly let go.
"Мудак. Я сломаю тебе нос в следующий раз." The tall boy hissed, as he slipped his hands into his combat jacket and strided away, footsteps heavy. "Okay, bud." The short boy called out as his rival trudged away. He straightened his sunglasses and cleared his throat. "Nothing to see here, folks." He announced, shrugging non-chalantly. Canada couldn't avert his gaze as he stared at the boy, who just seemed so... interesting.
The boy caught Canada's stuck gaze, and smirked. "Ah, you must be the new kid." He noted. Canada felt his throat go dry, unable to speak words. Instead, he just nodded. "I'm USA. But call me America." America stated. Canada forced himself to respond, and he could feel the temperature rising inside of him, making him sweat slightly. "I-I'm Canada." He stuttered, the words coming out rather slurred.
America tilted his head, leaning forward. "I didn't catch that." He indicated. "I'm Canada." Canada repeated, his voice louder and clearer this time. America smiled, his sunglasses tinting in the light that streamed through the corridor windows. "Nice to meet ya. See you around, Can." He expressed. Whipping around, America adjusted his shades and strolled off, posture tall. Canada sighed internally, relieved that he had even managed to speak.
He kept his eyes set on America until he disappeared around the corner. The bubbly feeling that rose inside of his stomach was growing more intense, and his heart fluttered like a bird released from its cage. Deep down, Canada thought of himself as stupid. He was already catching feelings for somebody that he barely knew at all. Love at first sight, I suppose. Canada shrugged. As the bell rung loudly in his ears, he was suddenly reminded that he had to get to class.
