I tried my best not to fall asleep. I was excited but very anxious. I prepared my dad's old tux that he wore on his very first prom. Tried different hairstyles to match my outfit. I practice some waltz too. I'm getting ready to confess my admiration to her. Still I haven't slept yet.
I still can't believe this is all happening to me.
The sun is starting to show up. I went outside and picked up some wild flowers to give to her. I even asked my dad about his first prom night so I can get some inspirations and ideas as to what to do.
"your mom was my first dance. She was my classmate and she's the most beautiful girl in a campus. I never let the opportunity of asking her out for a date slip because I don't wanna miss a thing. And now look at us still together with beautiful children. Living a simple life without any regrets" says dad.
That is the most beautiful words I've ever heard. If I just became the man like my dad, for sure my life will not be miserable.
I planned everything. From confessing to her to asking her out for another date.
As time quickly goes by, I'm getting nervous.
I took a shower and dressed up. Not to brag about my looks but I looked handsome wearing my dad's tux and carrying a bouquet of wild flowers. Oh! And I smell nice too.
Dad let me use his car so I can fetch Mildred. I'm already in front of her door, ringing the bell and just waiting for her to come out.
She opened the door and I saw her. Wonderful.
Beautifully dressed in lavender colored cocktail dress. Hair tied up with a flower above her right ear. I could marry you right now.
I held her hand on the way to the car.
I can't take my eyes off of her.We reached the campus. We are walking down the aisle when suddenly the lights went dim and music changed from funky to slow and romantic song.
Ah ah ah haah ah
I know this much is true.I looked at her and she stared back.
I wrapped my hands around her waist and her arms are on my shoulders. Our foreheads touched, her eyes are closed and I'm still looking at her. I pulled her closer and she placed her head on my shoulder."I love you" I said to her.
She looked at me and she kissed me. From then, I knew that we feel the same.
After the prom, I asked her if she wants to go somewhere else. She nodded.
"I want to go to the place where we first talked"
So I drove to that old oak tree and we sit on the same bench where we first talked officially. While we are staring at the moon she told me that she's been looking at me even from day one. I was shock! I didn't know she had feelings for me too.
As much as I enjoy our conversation, the same feeling of sadness starts to struck me. I am in love with this girl but we can't be together because I still can't believe this is happening. We were stuck on a very complicated situation.
I drove her home. One last kiss before I go back to the future.
When I got home, I wrote another letter for my family, friends and of course the love of my life, Mildred.
Dear Mildred,
I'm sorry I cannot be with you.
You might not understand what's happening to me right now but I want you to know that last night was the best night of my life. I love you so much and I'm sorry if I can't be with you. I hope to see you someday where our hearts are still free. I will forever miss you.Love,
AndrewI sealed the letters with a kiss. Went to mom and dad's room to kiss them one last time.
With a broken heart and soul, I turned off the light. Fell asleep.
