Saturday came and I was just as nervous as I was excited. My parents were spending the weekend with their friends, Harry and Julia, who worked in my dad's office and had invited them to stay at their lake house. I told my parents it was better for my sister to stay with our grandparents, because I felt it was too much responsibility for me to be left alone with her. That way, I had the house all to myself for the entire weekend.
Lil and Mel came over and spent the whole day with me, doing typical girl stuff. We watched some movies while painting each other's nails, ate take out and sang karaoke in the living room. I had so much fun with them, I even forgot how nervous I felt about being with Will.
Mel and I were also really close because of how much alike we were. Not physically of course, she was tall, blonde and beautiful, just like Lilian. But we liked all the same things and spent most of the time making fun of Lil. Sometimes she would get so jealous of us getting along so well that she would yell at her sister that, and I quote, 'you and Cat are NOT friends, do you understand? You wouldn't even know her if it wasn't for me, so stop acting like you are!'. Of course I only knew Melissa because she was Lilian's sister, but we really were good friends. She and Lil didn't always get along so, sometimes, I ended up playing the role of Mel's big sister, when she needed help with her homework, or when she was having trouble with her friends and needed advise.
I always felt calmer when I spent time with the Harrison sisters. I knew that no matter what happened in college, or with the groupette or with Will, I knew I could always go to their house to watch a movie, or borrow some make-up, or just hang out with them, and it would be like no time had passed.
Around 6 p.m., Melissa went home because she had agreed to go to the movies with her friends, and Lil stayed to help me get ready.
First, she helped me make dinner. I had decided to make spaghetti with meatballs, because it was tasty and quick to make.
- Are you sure you want to do this? I don't see this as a particular sexy menu... - she commented, with a sceptical expression – It's so... Lady and the Tramp.
- Jesus, Lil, why does the meal have to be sexy? – I asked, rolling my eyes at her.
- Oh but everything's got to be sexy tonight! You're not just going to sit around and watch the news, like a couple of grandparents!
- You know nothing's going to happen, right? – I sighed – I am not going to sleep with him. And that's final.
- Heavens, I know that! I would never tell you to do that! – she replied, as if she was stating the obvious. – You're waiting for real love and stuff, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have a super sexy make out session tonight!
- Don't worry, it's always hot between us, no matter what we eat for dinner – I assured her with a teasing smirk.
- Ooh, sassy, I like it! Now keep making dinner while I go upstairs and pick out your underwear – she stated while climbing up the stairs.
- You are not picking out my underwear! – I shouted so she could hear me in my room.
Why was everyone making such a big deal about sex? Sure, this thing with Will had this carnal facet, but we also really liked to talk to each other and hang out doing normal friends stuff. He made me laugh and listened to me ramble about my doubts and fears. I knew we weren't exactly dating, but I didn't think he was like that just so he could sleep with me. Not until the guys told me he was and I started to get nervous.
Eventually, Lil realized I didn't own any scandalous lingerie, but she convinced me to wear this white lace set I actually really loved and it did make feel pretty. Not that I had any intention of showing him my underwear, but still, it helped me feel more confident. I decided not to change my outfit because I didn't want it to look like I was trying too hard. I wanted this night to be similar to the other times we got together. So I stayed in the white denim shorts and yellow blouse I'd wore that day. I was still tanned so it looked nice.
