They'd met on the first day of primary school from what she could remember, already best friends before the end of the first week, and they'd never looked back. Chaeyoung could recall it like it was yesterday.
She'd been sat in the first maths class of the year for roughly forty-five minutes, when she'd spotted the teacher turning to write some lengthy equation on the board.
Chaeyoung had used the opportunity of the teacher's diverted attention to chance a glance at the clock on the wall at the back of the room, wondering how much more of this torture she'd have to endure before she could leave and meet up with her friends for lunch.
It was only then when it occurred to her, that not only had she purposefully left her glasses at home that day in an effort to appear cooler and more sophisticated on the first day, but she'd also forgotten to put contacts in.
Jaehyun had told her after the fact, that it was at this moment that he'd glanced over from paying attention to the board, to spot a 'cute brunette girl' a row in front and a few tables across from him, very intensely squinting at the back wall.
He'd turned his head in amusement, following her line of vision, and identifying her focus as the clock on the far wall, before turning back around to look at her again and chuckling to himself at the adorably concentrated and frustrated expression lacing her features.
Without a second though he began trying to catch her attention, leaning a little closer into her line of sight and discretely waving his hand in her direction, in the hope that she's notice him and make eye contact.
After deciding that her attempt to decipher the placements of the hands on the clock was an impossible task, Chaeyoung began to turn around with a large huff. Although she was stopped in her tracks when her eyes landed on a guy behind her with floppy brown hair, cute dimples, and an amused smile, his gazed fixed on her.
He quickly raised the hand he was waving as well as his other when he caught her eye, holding up one fingers on the right and two on the left, while mouthing the world 'twelve' through a grin.
A shy smile unconsciously emerged on her face as she realised he was trying to tell her the time, and only widened as he continued, glancing back at the clock again to make sure he'd read it right before making an exaggerated thinking face while scratching his chin as he planned his next sign, and then finally rearranged his fingers to hold up three on one hand and five on the before clearly mouthing 'thirty-five'.
Chaeyoung met his eye and nodded with a grateful smile, before mouthing 'thank you' and watching him mouth back 'you're welcome'.
She'd had just enough time to break eye contact, turn around and allow her cheeks to tint a light shade of red before she realised they'd caught the attention of not only some of their surrounding classmates, but the teacher herself.
"Jaehyun and Chaeyoung, is my class interrupting your conversation?" She bellowed, and C could remember her innocent six-year-old self holding back tears, with it being the first time she'd ever gotten into trouble.

They'd ended up in a lunchtime detention as a result of their first exchange, where they were able to properly introduce themselves, before Jaehyun had preceded to immediately start teasing her for 'her inability to tell the time' and Chaeyoung had attempted to defend herself by informing him that she'd left her glasses at home that day, but when she'd revealed the reason why, it had only lead to more teasing.
They'd agreed to meet up for lunch the next day, because aside from the annoyingly constant teasing she'd received from Jaehyun, she'd had a pretty fun time getting to know him.
