Roman didn't remember much after collapsing, although he was pretty sure he hit his head on rock. He laid there hours, shivering and sobbing, until his side went numb. He wasn't sure when, but Roman knew he must've fallen asleep at some point because when he was next conscious it was dark and there was a shadow moving opposite him.
"Who's there?" Roman asked, weakly attempting to push himself into a sitting position. But he didn't stay there for long before his arms gave out and he was on the floor again. Everything hurt.
The shadow moved again and, before Roman had time to process anything, the shadow grabbed him by the neck and held in the air. Roman gasped as he noticed one particular thing about the shadow: the singular glowing yellow eye. The shadow squeezed his neck slightly as he held the other effortlessly and without saying another word brought Roman's neck to his mouth. The other struggled desperately against the shadow but to no avail. Two sharp teeth broke his skin and a sharp pain sent a scream flying out of his mouth.
Roman tried to mumble a please as his vision began to pulse and darkened crept in around the edges. He couldn't die. Not here. Not now. He wasn't ready to. But Roman couldn't seem to find the strength to fight back.
He wasn't sure what happened, but suddenly he was on the floor and the shadow wasn't there. Roman blinked quickly trying to see the shadow. His heart still beat faster than was safe and he could feel blood running down his abdomen but couldn't find the strength to move his hand and cover it.
Then he saw movement. Looking to his left, he saw two shadows one holding the other over the edge of the mountain. There were muffled voices and then the shadow that was over the edge was placed back on the mountain and they ran off. The newcomer stepped over to Roman and the last thing the smaller saw before passing out was the glint of piercings and bright, glowing red eyes.

"What the hell was that Deceit?" Virgil whisper shouted.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he replied trying not to smirk at how annoyed the taller was getting.
"Damien Martin Sanders, I swear to God if you don't explain yourself-"
"I told you I'd be back, didn't I? So why are you so surprised?"
"Because you know how I feel about him now."
"And that's stopped me when?"
"What do you mean?" Virgil frowned. Deceit had never attacked anyone that Virgil loves before. Well, to his knowledge, Virgil had never loved someone like he loved Roman before.
"I-" Deceit started but was cut off by Virgil raising his hand dismissively. Roman's heartbeat was stronger now and it sped up quickly. Virgil moves to go upstairs but Patton stopped him.
"I'll go, it might make him feel a bit safer? You know, considering what's just happened," Patton said removing his hand from Virgil's arm before running up stairs.
"Roman? Can I come in? It's Patton." He knocked lightly on the door.
"Pat?" Roman questioned and when the door opened to reveal the warm, comforting face of Patton, he sighed and ran over to give Patton a hug.
"You okay, Ro?" the shorter asked hugging Roman tightly.
"Patton, we gotta get outta here. Virgil- Your dad-" Roman's eyes were wide as he started pulling Patton towards the window.
"Hey, hey, Roman it's okay. He knows you're here, he brought you here." Patton smiled lightly and pulled Roman to sit on the bed.
"He- he did?" Roman frowned, "Why? What happened last night?"
"C'mon, he should explain." Patton stood up and took Roman's hand to lead him downstairs. As they walked Roman tried to put on a hard face. Not wanting to show any emotion with Virgil, but as they got closer to the last stair, Roman felt his heart race and a longing to see him mixed with the fear of doing so. They walked in the room and Virgil and Deceit stood in there whispering but stopped after a second.
"Roman- There's a lot we need to discuss," Virgil said awkwardly gesturing toward the sofa.
"Ain't that the truth," Roman muttered not moving to the sofa. Deceit scoffed causing everyone else in the room to look at him.
"Something to add, Damien?"Virgil asked raising an eyebrow.
"Nope, I'm just gonna go home," Deceit shrugged still smirking as he started to leave.
"You sit your ass down too. You have just as much explaining to do as me," the taller scowled.
"The difference is you actually like him." Deceit replied earning a hiss from Virgil. He walked back into the room and slumped onto the sofa shooting disapproving looks at the other three.
"Roman, I- I s'pose I should start with an apology. What happened yesterday- I wasn't thinking right. I'm not- good with emotions, never really have been. I was confused and scared, I guess," Virgil sighed staring at the floor. No one said anything and at some point, though Virgil didn't know when, Patton left for his first class. Virgil looked up and saw that Roman was now sat on the sofa, "Please say something."
"I have nothing to say to you," Roman muttered and Virgil looked away with another sigh, "Except this: Why were you scared? I was open about how I felt. It's not like I was gonna reject you, so what did you have to be scared about?"
"It's not that, I- I was scared to hurt you. If you found out about me, which you did, I thought you'd run and I was terrified. I didn't want you to be scared of me," He explained and sank to the sofa avoiding eye contact with Roman at all costs.
He watched as Roman's knees moved into his line of sight and the smaller touched Virgil's hand, "But, I told you I wasn't scared, Virgil. I didn't- I don't care that you're a vampire. That doesn't matter to me."
Virgil looked up and met Roman's eyes, quickly searching them. Roman smiled and then rubbed his neck but his hand stopped over some bumps and his eyes widened as the events of the previous nights came flooding back to him.
