Jay Emerald
Cold.
That's all I felt.
Cold. Cold. Cold.I sighed and pushed the duvet off of me. This nightmare has been happening nightly, Jay. How much longer? I sat up, facing my wall that was made with pure glass. It was an opaque clear because of the switch I had installed so that I may sleep peacefully, away from the looks of everyone. But never did I think that I'd grow restless. I don't know, Jewel. I don't know.
"What is happening to me?" I ran a hand down my face, frustration consuming me. I stood up and went to the restroom for a much needed shower.
When I came out and dressed myself, I saw that the window didn't hold the darkness of morning, but also a glimmer of color. I flipped the switch on my window and felt a smile creep its way onto my face. In the sky was nothing but a deep blue that was darker than navy with light streaks of various shades of orange.
For a full hour, I watched the sight change in front of me from a mere few colors of orange to streaks of pink, baby blue, green and shades of red and yellow outlining them all. Needless to say, it was a breathtaking sunrise. One of the many reasons I enjoy waking up early. Me, too.
"Beautiful, right?" I sighed. Why hadn't Damien escorted him out? He was my one night stand, the one to take my mind off him. I pressed my secret button, calling my butler to my room.
"Yes, absolutely." A knock was at my door.
"Come in." Damien stepped in, and immediately knew how to handle escorting, yet another, lay out of my home.
"Sir, may I help you with your belongings?"
The man scoffed. "No, old man. I can take care of myself."
"Do not ever speak to my sweet Damien in such a condescending tone. Now please, get out."
"Babe-"
"I said leave."
"What the hell ever." He picked his clothes up and then muttered something along the lines of 'slut'.
"I'm sorry, Damien. I didn't realize how much of a prick he was." I said as soon as that asshole had left. Damien smiled before opening his mouth then shutting it close. "What's on your mind, my dear?" I patted my bed in which he hurriedly sat down next to me.
"Sweetheart. It has been seven years." I closed my eyes taking in a deep breath. "I'm just worried. You're like my daughter, I need to know you'll be okay."
I took his hand. "You are the only one to bring me from laughing to tears in a millisecond, you know that?"
He laughed. "Its one of my many talents, hon." He squeezed my hand. "Please, remember. Seven years."
Yes, I know. Seven years since the death of my family, I was meant to be coronated that day. I was so lost in what to do. That day, I had also lost the love of my thirteen year old life.
"I know." I sighed. "It's not getting easier, Damien. Not even close."
He nodded his head, squeezing my hand. "You're mate will change all of that, and it will only be a heartbreaking thought in the past." Damien brought his hand to my face and looked me in the eyes. "You will be much happier with your mate." I smiled, bringing my hand to the one that rested on my face. "Well, my liege," he winked, making me smile. "Breakfast awaits." He said in his hilariously horrible Brit accent.
"Thank you, my dear." I mimicked.
I ate in silence and alone. Damien had left to go grocery shopping, leaving me with my other household workers.
"Is everything alright, Ma'am?" I cringed.
"Perfect, but I beg you to not ever call me ma'am." I smiled and so did the woman.
"Of course," she turned away and left with a smile on her face.
Five minutes later, my alarm went off. Someone's on the land. Anger filled me. Who dare come onto this territory? I don't know, love. But its probably not good. Link Alpha Brent.
Alpha.
-Yes.
Someone's on the land, towards the eastern border, and no one knows whom it is.-Thank you, Joseph and Luke already notified me, they were on that side patrolling. But thank you, Jay.
Of course.I sighed, This place makes me feel so, so...Useless? Exactly.
I went out, gazing at the clear blue sky.
And my nose was filled with such a beautiful scent. Oh, God. Jewel, what is that?
She didn't reply. Shift. What? No! It's too dangerous, they'll know-! Do it NOW. Being the obedient human I was, I sprinted into the dark forest and felt the exhilarating feeling of the sprouting of fur and the crunch of bones shifting to the miraculous beast I hid deep within.
Give me control. I am. No, all control. She has never asked for such power, and it made me anxious. Are you sure? Never been more positive. And so I did, I gave all control while I slowly felt myself drift to the back of her mind. It was like watching TV, but feeling everything.
What is that amazing smell? Ours. Ours? What the hell does that mean? Our mate is here, Jay. And I'll be damned if I miss the chance to see him.
