The Hunter
I was at the border.
I scanned through the dark trees, my heightened senses scanning clearly through the vast darkness.
Can't cross. I paced, and looked. Paced and looked. Over twenty times before finally concluding that today would not be the day I met the first human to join a pack. I let out an irritated sigh and began to walk away before I heard the crunch of a stick. Maybe today is the day.I slowly turned, and was immediately mesmerized by the astounding beauty of the large black wolf in front if me. Power radiated off of the being.
My hunter instincts wanted to kick in, I knew that what should've happened was that I brought out my silver blade, the most pristine weapon against a wolf, and killed the damned thing. But instead, I was too enveloped by the creature's beauty, one was able to tell that it was female by the grace of its steps. Its predatory walk was slow and steady, paced.
"You're beautiful." My eyes widened. "Ah," I saw her blue eyes glimmer with amusement and pride. I felt my heart swell with lust. Lust for a wolf.
Snap out of it.She stopped. Her body became rigid before her large wolf frame began to come together. The fur dispersed, disappearing into her pale skin. I blinked and missed the rest of the transition, but what stood before me left me speechless.
Her hair was as black as the night, camouflaged with trees silhouettes. Her ghostly pale skin stood out from the dark of the night, making her the center of attention in the deep haze. Her eyes were bluer than the ocean surrounding the Hawaiian islands, and I found myself drowning in her beautiful orbs.
"What is your name?" Her voice was pixie like, high-pitched. But, damn, was it captivating.
"Ah," I couldn't form a coherent sentence. Everything I knew about myself vanished. What is my name? How old am I? Where am I? What am I doing?
"What. Is. Your. Name?" I found myself shivering with a delight at the sound of her voice.
"What is your name?" Her perfectly sculpted eyebrow raised and that's when I realized that she had been standing unclothed.
"Jay. Now, what is your name?"
Do I tell her the truth?I took my jacket off, holding out for her. She came close, holding herself with pride.
"I am called Hunter."
She took the jacket, pursing her lips, putting it on as she studied me. "I asked for your name not what you're-" she gasped. A look of recognition slowly crept up her face, her eyes widening with fear and then squinting in total distrust and hate. I fought the urge to flinch, so instead looked away to the clouds.
"You are Hunter? The Hunter?" Although her voice was calm, I could see that her relaxed personality was slowly breaking.
"Yes." I looked into her eyes, her blue orbs capturing my hazel ones. "I will not hurt you."
She seemed taken aback.
She opened her mouth to say something but then shifted into her wolf form, but it was not as graceful, it felt as though she was being forced into the transition, she bit her lip most likely withholding the pain.
Out of nowhere a shimmering white wolf flew above my head and landed right in front of her body. Her wolf snarled and the white one seemed to hesitate before it returned a vicious growl.
I went for my blade.
