-2 years later-
It was a cold February night everyone was over at the Barnes' house. It was James' 42nd birthday so all the kids were in town. Winnie had made lasagna with garlic bread James' favorite dish.
Maxie was still quiet and kept her head down. It had been two years since her and Bucky had spoken. They were about to celebrate their 17th birthday.
"So Maxie what are you wanting to do for your birthday? Or you finally ready to go back to sharing a party with James?" Winnie said
"Mom I think we are way past the age of sharing parties?" Bucky said
"Wouldnt want to share one anyways." Maxie said in a whisper.
"Do you just want to have your own like last year?" Danielle said
"Not really no. Its not a big deal its my 17th." She said in a low tone.
Brady came in "Sorry Im late. Did I miss the big news?" He said
"Who has big news?" Winnie said
"Little James..Jaylynn's pregnant." Brady said
"I hadn't told them yet Brady thanks.." Bucky said through gritted teeth.
"Buchanan.." James said keeping an eye on Maxie who was starting to breath hard.
"She is 13 weeks and two days. She is due in August." Bucky said
Maxie through her napkin on the table. "If you will excuse me.." she said as she ran out of the dining room.
They heard the front door slam. "I was waiting for her to leave to say something thanks alot Brady.." he said as he got up.
"Sorry.." Brady said
Bucky kissed Jaylynn's head. "I will be right back.." he said
He walked next door to Maxie's house. Once he made it to her room he opened her door.
"Maxie.." he said
"Get out!!" She yelled
"Maxie look Im sorry. I know it hurts and it made everything bubble back up." Bucky said
"Its not fair!!" She said
"Maxie..I." he said
"Its not fair!" She said
"And screaming at me isnt going to bring them back Maxie." He said
"Get the fuck out! You dont get to talk about them. You weren't there for me when I lost them! You were to busy me for me when I lost them!" She yelled
"Maxie..I tried to be there for you! But you shut me out and locked me out! You wouldnt let me be there after the fact! So dont you dare sit here and act like you did nothing wrong!" Bucky yelled
She pushed him out of her room and slammed the door in his face. He rested his forehead against the door.
"Maxie..please understand I never meant to hurt you." He said through the door.
"Go home.." she said
Bucky walked back downstairs to see the whole family in Maxie's kitchen. He walked out to go home to find Jaylynn waiting for him in his bed.
He laid beside her. "She okay?" She said
"Yeah..she just feels like its unfair." He said as he kissed her belly.
"I hope its a girl. She will be so cute with your blue eyes and my curly hair." She said
"She's gonna be beautiful baby." He said as he kissed her lips.
