SHAYLEES POV

we end up at an abandoned rolling skating rink.

"why are we here?" i ask him as i hop out of his tall jeep.

"this is somewhere very important to me" he grabs my hand and walks me inside, giving me a side eye soft smile.

i hear nothing but the sounds of our footsteps, walking up the pavement to the tall dark building.

i look up at him, smiling, and admiring the black and red adidas long sleeve he had put on before we left. his curls blowing in the wind as we walk.

"what are you looking at?" he stops in our footsteps, looking down at me.

"your dumb face" i begin sprinting towards the building, knowing he is right behind me.

i turn around and see him face to face, i yell before he grabs my waist pulling me into him.

"ethannnnn" i squeal out of faded laughs.

"apologize" he's says through gritted teeth, as he squeezes me closer to him, tickling me.

"i'm sorry" i yell.

he lets me go as i we continue to walk to the doors of the entrance.

"that you have a dumb face" i mumble.

i knew he heard me, as i looked up at him.

he gave me a dirty look before looking down and blushing.

i notice his actions and grab his large hand in mine, walking through the doors.

we make it into the building, being able to only see the sunrise begin to shine through the window.

i grab my phone looking at the time.

6:47 am— we've been up all night.

we walk into the large room, and notice the stand with all of the roller skates.

in front there is a clear counter, with a cash register on top.

"well are you gonna get our skates?" ethan asks jokingly. i give him a dirty look before he runs and smoothly slides across the counter, grabbing them.

ethan hands me my skates, as we sit on the stool next to the counter, tying our skates.

ethan quickly stood up, gliding across the carpet onto the rink.

i watch as he slowly glides across the rink, making it to the stereo.

he connects his phone and shuffle plays a playlist.

moonlight in atlanta by russ began to play through the rink, as the sun began to glow through the windows behind him.

ethan quickly glides back to me, resting his arm on the edge of the wall.

i look at him wide eyed, knowing damn well i don't know how to skate.

he skates towards me, giving me the "you have to be kidding" look.

he puts his hand out for me to grab.

my feet begin to lightly drag me with him, tripping here and there as we make our way to the rink.

we get on the hard floor, and i quickly grab onto the wall next to ethan.

"ethan i can't" i look up at him as he thinks to himself.

"just trust me" he lightly says, as he grabs to onto my hand, pulling me off the wall.

we begin to glide, and i can feel myself getting used to it.

he slowly lets go of my hand, then skating in front of me.

he turns around giving me a light smile.
"i knew you could do it shay"

i love it when he calls me that.

i begin to feel my legs take control of me, as i begin to slip a little.

"ethan!" he quickly turns around as i fall into his arms.

we both end up falling onto the hard floor.

our laughs fill the room, as the music begins to fade.

i rest my head on his bicep, as his hands rested on his chest.

we stare up at the open ceiling, as the daylight begins to cave in.

"why did we come here?" i mumble in his arm.

i look up at him as he bites the side of his cheek.

"grayson and i used to come here all the time when we were younger. it's always been a go to when it was open. once it closed we stopped going. i come here by myself to keep the memories going.. you know?"

"yeah i get it" i smile up at him.

i get it, but i don't. what is wrong with grayson?

we end up going back to the counter, putting our shoes back on.

i look up at ethan, as he's already looking down at me.

it was a comfortable silence as i looked up into his hazel eyes.

he put a piece my hair behind my ear, leaning in closer.

i loud noise interrupted us, as the doors of the building swing open.

two men who look very much angry, began walking towards us. they look a little bit older than us, but they don't have good intentions.

ethan yanks my arm up, as we run to the back of the rink, ending up at the back exit door. i begin to push on it as ethan stands behind me, facing the strangers running towards us.

"ethan it's locked!" ethan turns around and pushes me out of his reach, kicking the large door open.

we both run out, making our way back to ethans car. we quickly drive away, the only noise is the sound of our heavy breathing.

"who were they?" i look at him hoping for an answer.

he focuses on the road, with no answer.
