The last thing I heard as I fell was Morgan screaming my name. Then the icy water overtook me and I sank down
down
down

Get up! Morgan is up there waiting for you!
"I can't. Too cold."
You have to! You'll die if you don't!
"That's ok. It hurts too much anyway. I'm comfy here."
No. Get up, now. Do you know how heartbroken Derek will be?
"He's been broken before. What's one more."
He can't live without you. You're his everything. He's your everything.
The rushing sound of water filled my ears, and my lungs. I glimpsed around me; the water burned my eyes. Everything was dark, and cold. I wanted to keep sinking, but I had to get to Derek.
I took a deep breath, instantly regretting it as water filled my lungs. Coughing, which didn't help, I began slowing moving my arms in the direction I though was up.
My whole body burned. I could feel the cuts on my torso and legs aching with the tiniest movements.
My world kept getting darker and darker; my heart was pounding in my ears. I needed air. I pushed myself harder, willing myself to keep going.
It was no use. I couldn't reach the surface. I didn't even know which way it was. I begged my limbs to keep moving, but they didn't. They just hung there, suspended by the water.
I looked around tiredly. This was the last sight I'd ever see. The blurry, muddy, and cold bottom of a river in the middle of nowhere.
No! Keep pushing! You're almost there!
"No I'm not. I can't do it."
Think about Derek!
"I am."
A small smile played at my lips as I thought about my boyfriend. I loved him a lot. But now he'd never get to hear me tell him that again.
Tears pricked my eyes as I sunk lower and lower.
See, he will miss you. He'll be heartbroken, go get him!
"I can't! It's cold, I don't know which way is up, and I can't even move my arms."
You have to at least try god damn it!
"I did."
I let out a small sob, my lungs filling with even more water than before. I opened my eyes, and in my dreamlike comatose, I could almost make out a figure swimming towards me, but everything went black before I could make it out.
