Roaring.
That's what it sounds like.
A huge amount of people cheer in the crowds as five people from each of the six guilds who made it through the preliminaries stand in the arena, basking in the glory. Snow falls from the sky and you can see the air slipping from everyone's lips as they yell all around us.
Is this why we joined the Grand Magic Games? For this loud noise? To feel a sense of pride by winning?
All of it seems so pointless.
This sound is not a boost to the ego. It's more like a hammer against the skull.
No amount of pride or glory could be worth what I see in the guild far on the other side of the arena...
Because that's where Lucy stands, with four others from the same guild that she entered the games with.
This didn't have to happen.
The decisions that were made in the past year are what eventually led to this absolutely gut wrenching affair that I seem to be a part of now.
A domino effect led us here.
And in my eyes, the very first domino to fall was a little less than a year ago, when the snow started to melt, and spring was seemingly just over the horizon.
