The gold and silver shine as sunlight reflects off of the smooth surfaces.
It really has been a while.
She gave me the okay to go ahead and use magic about four days ago but I still haven't done it.
Something's been holding me back.
I bite my lip as I stare at the keys.
Fear.
I'm scared of what will, or more specifically, what won't happen when I try.
It's been around two months since I've called on any of them.
What if my calls are left unanswered? If I can't give enough magic for them to cross over?
I lower the keys and sigh.
Stop, Lucy.
If that is the case then all the more reason for you to start now. If you wait too long you'll just be even more behind. No more running for absolutely no reason.
I grab one of the keys from the bunch, putting the rest back on my waist. I lift it up in front of me and pause, taking a deep breath.
"Open, gate of the..."
A circle appears on the ground in front of me with light shining from it and I smile and finish the call.
A figure takes form, a little bit slower than usual but not too much.
I smile and take the figure in my arms.
"Plu!"
I snuggle him against my face and smile brightly.
"I knew you'd come if I called. I haven't seen you in a while."
He responds back to me in the way he normally does.
Relief flows through my system at the feeling of him and my smile doesn't fade.
I've been avoiding this for no reason.
I set him down and we both walk down the path.
I'm sure the others won't be so easy but I've been thinking of the worst without fail for the last couple of weeks...that none of them would appear before me at all.
He's the simplest spirit I have but it was still something after so long of nothing. It's nice to have him keep me company even if we don't talk much.
"Hey, Plue, I'm gonna go ahead and try to train a little bit. It was really nice seeing you."
He waves to me and disappears from the spot he just was.
I stop on the path only a short distance left until I get to town.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
"Open, gate of the lion-"
I hesitate for just a moment before the resolve settles back in.
"Loke!"
A bright magic circle appears on the ground in front of me, the light growing out of it.
A moment passes and my stomach starts to drop.
Thoughts flood through my head and a frown slowly starts to settle.
Another moment passes before the light finally shines bright enough to where I can't see through it and then it disappears, a figure left in its wake.
"I always come when you call, Lucy"
