Imagine being Arthur's roommate after his mom dies.
The news had came in as a big shock to me.
Arthur Flecks mother had died.
She was the sweetest woman that I knew.
And she was now gone.
I had been friends with Arthur for a long time, I lived in the same apartment complex as him, on the same floor.
He was a really sweet guy.
Others would say that he was strange and unusual.
But hey look at where we lived.
It was Gotham city.
It had been a few days since the news had came out and I figured I would visit Arthur.
I left my apartment that afternoon to go to his apartment down the hall.
Once I was at his door I hesitated before I knocked on the door.
Should I leave him alone?
No don't do that, he shouldn't be alone.
Just knock.
And with that I knocked on the door and waited for an answer.
"Coming" I heard Arthur's muffled voice from inside.
I heard his footsteps inch towards the door.
The door unlocked and he opened it.
Arthur looked at me, surprised to see me there.
"Y/n!!!, what are you doing here?" He questioned as he moved out of the door way.
Gesturing for me to come inside.
I stepped over the threshold and walked in.
"I wanted to see you, I heard about your mother. I'm so sorry Arthur" I apologize.
Arthur smiles lightly before he speaks, "don't apologize y/n" he replies.
Arthur moves away from the door and goes to sit on his couch in the living room and I follow.
"How are you holding up?" I ask hesitantly.
Arthur looks up at me before he speaks.
A light smile forms on his face "I feel great, she was holding me back" Arthur announces.
I look at him, confusion in my eyes.
He can't possibly mean that.
This was his mother we were talking about.
I knew how he was with her.
I know that Arthur would never say something like that.
"Arthur, you don't sound okay, this was your mother, we're talking about" I respond.
He shouldn't be alone.
He's not all there right now.
He's still grieving.
"Arthur, can I ask you a something?" I ask cautiously.
"What is it?" He replies.
"...I was...um...wondering if I could... move in...with you" I stutter.
I didn't want him to be alone in this and even though I was down the hall, I thought it would be better to actually be here with him to help get him through this.
