"What the fuck," Sally breathed out.
Annie flinched, sitting further back into the leather couch.
"What the actual fuck!"
"I can explain, I swear, I-" Annie began, fumbling for words.
"Nothing can explain this!" Sally exclaimed, eyes wide. "This is fucking crazy!" She threw her hands up into the air with a grin. "Absolutely crazy!"
Annie lowered her eyes. She stared at her hands. Only moments ago, Tom had left through the downstairs entrance after Sally had sprinted back upstairs. His lingering gaze had set her alight, his fingers burning into her skin as he had cupped her chin. Annie gingerly touched her cheek, finding the spot where his lips had pressed, soft and warm, searing - a swift goodbye, but lasting enough to fuel the butterflies to rise in her stomach.
"He likes you."
She looked up. Sally sat opposite her on the other couch, head resting in her hands. She was smiling.
"And you like him."
"Sal, I-"
"It's alright, Annie," Sally raised her hand. "I understand why you didn't tell me."
Annie sighed. "I wanted to tell you, I really did. But-"
"You didn't know how?"
Annie smiled, nodding her head. "I didn't know how."
"I wouldn't know how to either, with a man like that. But I guess I already knew..."
"Huh?" Annie raised her eyebrows. "How?"
Sally winked. "Those paparazzi photos at the garage. I could recognise those dirty converses anywhere!"
"Fuck," Annie breathed. "Why didn't you say something?"
Sally shrugged. "I was waiting for you to tell me, but honestly, it only clicked in my brain on the night of the premiere. Seeing you together, it just clicked." She snapped her fingers. "Like that."
Annie shook her head, smiling. "You're unbelievable."
"And you're a bad liar," Sally fired back, grinning. "I cannot believe you were hiding him in your room, were you trying to kill me?"
"No, I was trying to-"
"Wait," Sally interrupted, hand raised. "Were you two about to," she wiggled her eyebrows. "Fuck?"
Annie's cheek became ablaze. "N-n-no!" She stuttered heavily. "No! I was showing him the house."
Sally grinned, licking her lips suggestively. "Have you kissed yet?"
Annie shook her head.
"Were you about to?"
"Maybe-"
"Oh my god!" Sally exclaimed. "This is amazing, I cannot believe this. You've practically bagged Tom Price, Annie."
"I haven't bagged him-"
"Yes, yes you have," Sally persisted. "I bet he's thinking about it right now. If I hadn't had arrived. The missed moment that is."
Annie groaned, lowering her head into her hands.
"But tell me," Sally began, leaning forwards. "How did you two meet? Because he's been around a while now hasn't he?"
Annie raised her head. "Yes," she nodded. "He has."
