After 2 months, the time of war was here and so was the time of the very first separation of two lovers, for whom the love for their motherland topped the chart.
There were no words exchanged between the two, only eye to eye conversation happened, telling each other to take care of themselves and fight till the victory.
In this period of separation, Maya discovered a cave near their bunkers where she found a mystical statue of Gautama Buddha. She went at that cave every day, without a miss to illuminate a ‘Diya’ for her love and safety of each and every member of the regiment.
Maya started writing letters, expressing her feelings towards Sodhi and hid them under the rock below the statue.
After few days, when Sodhi and his men came along with some of their injured brothers, Maya noticed how Sodhi looked, pale and weak, yet with a look that stated “I-won’t-give-up”. And she was proud of her choice, her man.
At night, Maya took Sodhi to the place where she found solace and peace in his absence.
Sodhi: Yeh jagah tumhe kaise mil gayi?
(How did you discovered this place?)
Maya: Jab tum sab gaye thhey, humne choti choti cheezein ikatthi karni shuru kardi, jinhe hathiyar jaise kam mein liya jaa sake, humne raaste dhoondhne shuru kiye jo hume border tak le jaa sake, tab mujhe yeh jagah mili. Main yahan har roz aati thhi aur tumhare liye jo mere dil mein ehsaas hai, unhe chitthiyon mein likhti thhi.
(When you guys left, we started collecting small small things that can be used as weapons, we started finding all the routes that will make us reach the border. And it was then, I came across this place. I used to come here and express my feelings towards you while writing letters.)
Sodhi: Chitthiyan?
(Letters?)
After taking them out of her secret place,
Maya: Yeh.
(These)
After reading those letters, no words, no I-Love-You’s were exchanged. They looked, and only looked into each other eyes as if seeing each other’s souls through the mirror of their eyes, finding pure love and admiration for each other.
That night, they became one, in the most sacred and purest form, one could. Their souls were intertwined but, they were together only for some hours or rather last hours of their togetherness.
