Cassie's POV
The party was great and after food and drinks, my parents declared it to be the time for giving gifts.
Most of the guests, were my parents' colleagues and I could barely remember their names. They gave me envelopes that contained money. Some gave me dolls, scarves and even perfume. My cheeks hurt from all the smiling and there's nothing I wanted more than to crawl up in bed and sleep.
My dad made us leave the house since his gift couldn't come into the house. I already guessed it was a car but I still feigned surprise to not disappoint him.
Outside was a bright red Bugatti Veyron with a big white bow on it.
Everyone was amazed as they took photos of it."Dad, you shouldn't have." I said as I hugged him tightly.
After driving it around our huge yard, my mom called for attention.
"Okay. That's enough. You'll love my gift even more." My mom said winking at my dad.
I had no idea what she would've gotten me.
"Open that box." She pointed with her manicured finger.
I walked to the box near the front door. I saw Trent taking a video ready to capture my reaction. I smiled at him as I knelt in front of the box. I opened it carefully to reveal two of the cutest puppies ever.
"Awww," I cooed as I picked one up.
Tears immediately welled up and one drop fell. I realized that they were not the same. The one I was holding was a Husky that I named Snow, and the other one was a Golden Retriever and I named him Bo. I couldn't stop cooing at the beauties as they licked my face wagging their little tails happily.
I felt Trent's hand on my shoulder as he comforted me. I was a crying mess. JJ came forward and scooped the Husky and started playing with him. I gave the other one to Trent who held it so carefully. I ran to my mom's open arms.
"Thank you so much Mommy." She kissed my forehead
"You're welcome baby. When you go off to college, you won't be so lonely." I nodded happily as dad joined in the hug.
"Mh, you win this time." He said playfully to my mother who stuck her tongue out to him and he smiled at her.
Later that evening, the guests had left and we were cleaning up. JJ had received the Ford Ranger truck that he had always wanted, from his parents.
My parents somehow already knew that I would go to Princeton so they did what every parent would. They bought a whole apartment complex building near the school. So as a gift, they gave JJ one of the apartments that was one floor below mine. The building was in my name so the rent from other occupants would be mine.
I would have refused if it wasn't for the guilt trip my mom took me through.
I went to bed after saying good bye to Trent dreaming about him and our future.
The following morning, I was awoken by my phone ringing.
"Hello?" I yawned and rubbed my eyes.
"Babygirl, are you still sleeping? It's almost midday." I looked at my alarm clock, and sure enough, it was 11:38am.
"I was so tired. Did you sleep well?"
"I did. Take a shower, I'll be there in ten minutes. Your mom already packed your luggage." This confused me.
"Luggage? Why? Am I going somewhere?"
"Yes, we are going somewhere. I'll explain later."And just like that, he hung up. I took a shower and put on a blue summer dress since it was hot. I went downstairs and saw my huge Joker suitcase near the door.
