FOR OVER MANY CENTURIES NO WITCH HAD GONE TO WILLOW DANVERS WITOUT GETTING KILLED.

UNTIL NOW.

CHICAGO, PRESENT TIME.

All those years passed by like minutes. The three of us never left each other’s side. We were always there for each other. It has been at least three hundred years. Three hundred years since my mother died. Three hundred years since they found out our secret. Three hundred years since everything that I cared about got ripped from my heart and left a huge hole inside me that can never be filled.

Annabeth, Zofia and I established a business with people from the ‘real’ world. We found the will to tell two families our secret. We gave them protection and I couldn’t help but compare this situation with the Hanover family. I never did trust them like that. I try not to get attached. Although, there is one family in Willow Danvers who is taking care of everything. They act like our own personal spies. Unlike the two families in here, I trusted them. They are my new family.

I skipped inside our living room while carrying a packet of popcorn, Annabeth and Zofia were playing with our new wii. I couldn’t help but giggle at their determined expressions and their focused eyes. They have been playing that thing since it was delivered in our condominium in the new city we were trying—which was seven hours ago. They were trying the games that we bought and each time one of them loses, they toss the game aside and place a new one. I shook my head in amusement when I saw Zofia lose in tennis while Annabeth danced her victory dance. After a while, Zofia started dancing along and music ‘magically’ started playing in our speakers. I grinned at them and danced along the beat. When Annabeth saw me, she squealed and started to push me and Zofia on the sofa. As soon as we landed, popcorn was flying everywhere and the three of us were laughing out loud. Our laugh was so loud that I almost didn’t notice the phone ringing. For a moment, we just let it ring for a while and just stare at each other. Well, until Annabeth interrupted—as usual.

“You ever figure out what that thing is for?” she asked us sarcastically.

I reached for the phone half laughing and trying to remove the popcorn from my sweatpants. “Hello?” I asked in the receiver. I couldn’t help but laugh softly until I heard the dreadful news. A slight hiss escaped my mouth when I said my goodbye. I placed down the phone and started gathering some things. IDs, wallets, keys… Annabeth and Zofia both looked at me with curiosity.

“What’s wrong?” Zofia asked me, a look of concern was spread across her face.

“We have to go back to Willow Danvers,” I told them, not meeting their eyes.

“Why?” Annabeth asked, alarmed that something might be wrong. I could see it in the expression on her face. We have been trying to avoid visiting the place since it brought back horrifying memories of the past. We only drop in for an occasional visit—we never thought that we have to reside in the town again.

“The blacks came back to town” I whispered softly but added more force in it.

“What?” Zofia almost shouted. She quickly stood up and mimicked my actions.

“We’re going home” I announced, more scared than ever. It has been at least fifty years since we last saw the forests and mansions of Willow Danvers. It scared me how much I missed it and at the same time… resent it.
