Have fun reading! I am going to use the string au. This is a smut by request. So yeah.

I gulp, my heart pounds in my chest loudly. I breathe heavily, my breathing labored with anxiety. Suddenly I begin to hold my breath in as I stare at my ring finger. After a minute I begin breathing again and my hands fling up and grip and roam through my hair. At noon on a person's 18th birthday a red string appears on their finger. It will lead them to their soulmate, I gulp.

I've waited for this day forever, I check my wallet. A large funding of $10,000 in my pocket. I saved up every little penny and such since I was five.

My parents are unknowing that the minute I get my string I will head out. I already have a backpack of my possessions packed, I have since last week. I've always limited what I own to one backpack full. Sure its not a lot but I'm happy with it, I have plenty of clothes for two weeks before I have to wash it. And to be honest my backpack is large. I have my phone sitting beside me, my wallet will be placed in my backpack pouch soon. I have a waterbottle on the side cup like area, my laptop and drawing tablet in my backpack secured around some clothes.

My headphones also in my backpack, a book or two in my bag as well. Basically everything I own besides my bed and sheets and such.

I turn on my phone and check the time. I instantly look away with a red face, my breathing picking up drastically.

11:59.

I bounce my leg frantically, I wonder who it will be?

Will they live far away?
Will they live close?
Are the older than me?
What is their ethnicity?
Will they be clingy?
Or recluse?
What will their hair color be?
What will their skin color be?

I am attracted to boys instead of girls so I hope its a guy.

What will their favorite color be?
What is their favorite drink?
Favorite cartoon or show?
Will they like to draw?

Suddenly I feel my finger tingle, I hold my breath and look straight ahead. I feel a light tug on my finger, I look down to see a red string. I jump up and smile wildly, I scream.

I quickly gather my other things and pack them in my bag, I put on my bag. I spin around happily, I tug on the string lightly.

Only me and my soulmate can see, and feel the string.

The string is pretty loose, I read that means they are somewhat far away. I smile non the less, I open my room door to be met with my smiling parents holding a cake.

"Happy birthday son!" They say happily.

I duck down and rush between them, I make my way to the front door.

"Where are you going mister?" My mother calls.

"I have to go find them before they try to find me!" I call back.
