My name is Jonathan Stewart. I was only twelve years old when my life started going downhill. I was falling into a depression, a battle within myself. Living in a household with people from hell did not help at all. Everyday I was humiliated by my own family. Could you imagine the mother who birthed you, betraying you? Lying to you? I'm sure some of you can. It is the worst feeling in the world to be scared on the bus ride home, of what awaits you.
Everyday after school I would dread stepping off that final bus step. I would walk into my dumpy trailer filled with the smell of nicotine entering into my respiratory system. The house itself is older than me. There are loose wooden boards underneath the whole house. There is one right next to me room though, that comes in handy when my father is coming to 'talk' to me. That way I could be prepared for the worst.
My mother didn't help. She would step on the creaky planes to get to my room just to lie to me. She would make promises she could never keep. "How about we get you some new shoes next weekend?" Or "Want to go get ice cream later on this week?" She would only tell me these things when she was high on her pills. Go figure huh?
My sisters name was Daisy. I really liked her name, it even fit her personality. She was always happy around me. She would even listen to what I had to say! One time, The funniest thing happened at school. I was walking and reading a book for my English class. I ran straight into a locker door! Of course the big bruise that popped up wasn't different than the rest, but at least this one was funny! I told my sister, and she didn't let it down for a week. At least, the week she was even home. She would never be home, she hated mom and dad like I did. But she was old enough to escape. Lucky her. I loved her so much.
The most wonderful staple in my lifetime would be my lifelong companion, Frenchie. Frenchie was a snow-white Persian long haired cat. Of course I didn't know that then, but being an animal doctor comes in handy when talking about different breeds of cats. Anyway, this cat was my best friend. I know that sounds really stupid, but he was always there for me when I needed him most. Stressful days of school he would be there. Moments with my family that were bad, he would be there. He would always come up to me and rub his body against me. He helped me survive the toughest times in my life. If I never had him, I don't know how my life would be today. I don't know if I would be alive right at this moment. Frenchie helped me survive life, and be the smart young man I am today. We had an unbreakable bond.
Anyway, I have a patient in room 201. Just make sure and fax your clients list to me by the end of the day okay, Rachael?
"Sure, and Doctor Stewart, how did school go for you?"
"That, my friend is a completely different story."
