Maya was the new transfer student, she came in about 3 months ago, she was quite shy but still knew how to hold a conversation, especially with her friends Yashiro and Kou whom she met on her first day as well as Hanako whom was introduced to the bright girl by none other than Yashiro. Overall, she was a very likeable girl.

"Nene-chan! Kou-kun! Hanako-kun!" Her soft voice called out, hoping they were already on the rooftop where they would often hang out on when there wasn't bathroom duty.

"Yo~!" Said the energetic ghost his hands held towards his face in a peace sign.

Maya smiled brightly, making Hanako's cheeks tint the lightest shade of pink whivh went unnoticed, "Ah! You're here! Perfect timing, I-" her voice suddenly turned quiet, her cheeks turning pink.

"I want to confess something Hanako-kun.." Hanako's face suddenly heated up.

"Huh? Confess? Does she see me the same way I see her?" Hanako thought hopefully

"I-", she averted her eyes, not able to look into the amber ones in front of her which felt like it pierced through her soul

"Here it comes, her confession. of course I'll say yes, you're wonderful."

"I-I like"

"Please say me"

"I.. I LIKE-"

"Akane-kun.." she said, her voice low, "P-please go out with me!" Maya bowed my head and offered Akane her hand.

"Maya.." he said making the girl look up at him hopefully only to be disappointed with the sight of him looking away and uncomfortable.

"You know I like Ao-chan right? The whole class does. My feelings for her are true, I could never date someone else knowing that there is someone else in my heart, it would be unfair to both you and me. I'm sorry." Akane said while rubbing the back of his neck.

Each word that came out of his mouth made more tears sting Maya's eyes, each word was like a stab through her heart.

Of course, she knew, he would confess to Aoi every chance he got, but she felt that she just had to say it. Maya knew she had to tell him these past few months and she knew she was going to get rejected.

"I-I understand.." she said, pain shooting through her fragile heart. She couldn't help it, even though there was less than 1% of a chance they would end up together, Maya wanted to hope that that 1% was possible if she confessed now.

"Why can't it be me?" She thought bitterly, thinking how Aoi always got the best grades, family, friends, even the best guy.

Still, the girl whose tears were about to roll down her cheeks stood and faced the boy who rejected her. "Thank you Akane-kun, I hope you and her become a couple soon, you guys are perfect for each other."

Maya smiled at him and took her leave, she held back the tears that were desperately threatening to escape until she got out of that suffocating room where everyone's eyes were filled with sympathy directed toward's the girl.

"Maya-chan wait!" A certain radish-haired girl called out to her, trying hard to catch up with Maya.

"I'm fine Nene-chan!" Maya said, hoping that it would be enough to satisfy Yashiro.

The rejected girl ran towards the nearest bathroom, hoping to escape the whispers and stares around her, with Yashiro lagging behind more and more. She dashed through the halls and up the stairs and unknowingly ended up in Hanako's boundary.

She locked the door to prevent anyone especially Yashiro and Kou to come in. She took a step back and immediately grabbed the edge of the sink to stop her weak knees from collapsing, not noticing the amber eyed boy gazing at her with a worried face.

"Fuck.." she cursed a single tear ran down her tan cheeks, "FUCK!" she cursed louder, making Hanako flinch. Sobbing and shaking uncontrolably, she turned the tap on and splashed the cool water onto her face to calm down, suddenly she felt her body being engulfed in a hug, "Shhhh.. calm down, I'm here." Hanako whispered into her hair. The sudden contact between them only made the heartbroken girl weep more tears.

With her eyes blurry, she turned around and buried her face into Hanako's shirt as she wept louder, staining it with her tears and snot.

"Hanako-kun..*hic*" She gripped his shirt, "H-he *hic* do-does-*hic*-esn't fe-el the sa-*hic*-same, he-he didn't e-eve-*hic*-n give me a cha-*hic*-hance."
(Hanako-kum, he doesn't feel the same way, he didn't even give me a chance) She somehow said through her sobs and hiccups while hanako only listened and pat her head to soothe her.

"It hurts, I know" Hanako said sadly

Looking down and meeting her beautiful golden eyes only to look away to prevent her from seeing the sheen in his eyes he selfishly thought,

"Why can't it be me"
