The Blood War.
Once, in a much different era, before Vampires became the superior creatures they are today, they were once feral, dark, and dangerous. Driven solely by blood lust and their animalistic urges, they were once feared by many and were mostly known for their murderous rage. The respect which they have earned from other creatures and supernatural beings may have come from their reputation through the Blood War, but before their victory in the legendary war happened, the fear and respect given to them existed in the form of terror.
Monsters. Murderous. Soulless.
—were just how Vampires were known to be.
It was an era that was filled with darkness and unruly ways of the bloodsucker creatures that had made Vampires become a part of old man's folktales told to human children to keep them from stepping a foot out of their houses by nightfalls. The dark era which had lasted for centuries. Centuries of terror and blood lust, until came the first Vampire King to rise.
He was the first Pure Blood Vampire who had enough power and will to change how everything was, with the ability to tame his own kind and with a bright view of the future he had wished all Vampires could become. With his power, he became the first to set out rules for Vampires' ways, setting them all up to survive in the changing world.
Alongside his family, the first Vampire King built the Vampire Monarchy, the power system he created to rule his kind, taming their old ways to create peace among themselves.
The Vampire Monarchy stood strong despite a few minor rebellions from those who had refused to surrender to orders from the Royal Pure Bloods and to the new ways which they were forced to follow. For centuries onward, the Monarchy was able to keep the peace, creating a substantial life for both Pure Bloods and Turned Vampires together until they became a strong society among Supernaturals. The Royal Pure Bloods ruled the Monarchy with dominance, with binding rules and promises of severe punishments for the lawless. And with this order, the Vampires thrived above all the others in the Supernatural realm.
But as the world kept turning, so did life, and so did power.
To keep the Monarchy thriving, the Vampire King's throne was passed down from one generation to the next by blood, from Fathers to their First Sons within the Royal Pure Blood family.
The orderly ways lasted for many more centuries, and right after, came the last royal descendant of the Vampire King. As the last King perished at his young age without an heir or any predecessor to pass on his throne to, a coup for the throne and disorderly within the Vampires' society rose to the surface.
A war happened between brothers as they fought for the right to claim the throne and leadership, involving his immediate cousins and their sons. Rebellions started rising from the lower caste Vampires who wanted a change in leadership and those who loathed the tyrannical leadership within the Monarchy. With greed for power, lust for control, abandonment of their people, and no more law strong enough to bind the peace in their own society, the Monarchy fell. Once again, the Vampires' world was thrust back into darkness. With no leader, no law, and no clear view of the future to lead their ways.
