Chapter 7

Ellie's P.O.V

It's the next day now and I woke up in Max's bed, as soon as I opened my eyes I freaked out. I haven't talked to Rachel, I haven't let her know I'm okay.

I'm such a shit friend sometimes.

I reach over and grab Max's phone, he hasn't changed his password. I dial Rachel's number, I remembering off by heart. Just before I press call, Max wakes up.

"What are you doing?" He asks

"Phoning Rachel, I need to let her know I'm okay" I tell him

He nods "thanks for asking if you can use my phone" he says

I roll my eyes "you were asleep" I tell him "plus I knew you wouldn't mind" I say

I press call and on the 4th ring she picks up.

"Hello?" She asks

"Rachel! Oh my god I'm so sorry, I didn't phone you sooner, I'm okay, well I know you know I'm okay considering Kai and all came and got me but I'm sorry I didn't call you. I don't have my phone" I tell her

"That's alright, I'm glad your okay, I was so worried. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you, I can't believe you got kidnapped. How are you phoning me if you don't have your phone?"

"It's okay, its not your fault and besides I'm glad you weren't there cause I wouldn't want you to have been taken with me. Oh and Um, I'm using Max's phone" I tell her

"Max? Ellie, what about what Kai said?" She asks

"I don't care! I shouldn't have let him tell me I couldn't be near him last time either! This is my life, I should be able to make my own choices I'm not 3 years old! And I have lost my house keys, I didn't have anywhere else to go and Max was kind enough to let me stay with him"

"Your right, I'm just worried about you and for Max, for the way Kai reacted last time" she says

"Yeah, I know. It's risky but as long as Kai doesn't find out I'll be fine. We both know he won't hurt me anyway" I tell her

"But we both know he won't have a problem hurting Max" she says

I sigh, she's right and it's annoying me how right she is. "Your right..."

"Look, just be careful" she tells me

"I will, anyway I have to go I'll talk to you later"

"Bye" she replies

"Bye" I say before hanging up

"What's wrong?" Max asks, noticing the tone in my voice doesn't sound very happy

"Nothing" I lie

"Ellie... tell me, what did she say?" He asks

I sigh "it's just, I don't want you getting hurt and I know for a fact that if Kai finds out I'm here or that I kissed you, he'll go mad and probably do something stupid" I say holding back my tears. Why can't I have a normal life? With a normal boyfriend and not have to worry about them being beaten up or killed?

"What did we talk about last night?" He asks

"I know" I sigh "and your right, I should let him control me but... he does and I'm scared that if I move on from him he'll go mad" I tell him

"Well you know what they say? Life's better with risks" he says

I force a smile "your not something I'd want to risk, I don't want you getting hurt" I tell him, he frowns

"So what? You just want to be friends?" He asks

I nod "I think it will be better off"

"Well I don't agree, it will be safer yes, but if your happy enough just being friends then that's fine by me I guess, as long as I still have you around" he says with a sad smile

I attempt to smile back at him. It's not something I want, or is it? I don't know! I love him, I really do but a part of me doesn't want to be with him and I don't know if it's because I'm scared of what Kai will do or if... for whatever reason, I have no idea why.... I still maybe.. kinda...

Like Kai?
