They always say that the stars are beautiful
But why are they that way
Is it from how they shine above our heads
Always out of reach
Or maybe from the sheer perfection of them
They've had centuries to get rid of any flaws
But that must make them so lonely
Watching everything around them wither away
Always knowing that anything they tried to interact with
It would take years to get in contact with it
And by that time
They might have already died out
I wonder
If I was able to live for centuries
Would I understand their pain
Would I be able to fully grasp their loneliness
And the sheer sorrow of having everything around you fade away
Would I only understand this
After watching everything I know and love
Turn to dust
Before my eyes
Stars are beautiful
After having a long time to get rid of flaws
Yes that is true
But no matter how beautiful they are
I don't want to be like them
And I don't think that you would want to be like them either
After all
There is a certain pain and loneliness
In all that serenity
And beauty they show
As they light up the night sky
