I remember the first time I saw him. I went for a night walk, as I usually do. I was not afraid to go out at night, since in my neighborhood the biggest crime that has been committed is just stealing stores or speeding.

I was taking a walk in the park and sat on a bench under a lamppost, until a black cat appeared in front of me. I heard him purr and it didn't seem like he was going to hurt me, so he came over and started stroking it.

Then, he started purring louder and started rubbing against my leg, like cats do. I would swear he seemed to be smiling. Someone whispered something from bushes in the park, and the cat ran away in response to this. It was getting very late, so I started walking towards my house.

I reached my door and, just when I put the key in, I heard a meowing behind me. I turned around and there was the same cat, sitting, looking straight at me. I knew you shouldn't feed the wild animals, but I couldn't help it, it looked so hungry.

I entered the house and quickly took a small plate, and put some small slices of ham. I opened the door to give it to him, but he was gone, so I left the plate right in front of my door.

After that I went to bed, since it was around 11:30. That night I woke up with something that hit my window, I turned around to see what was happening and I saw the same cat, sitting, to the right of the window.

He was definitely smiling this time, his tail was waving happily and bouncing against my window in the process. I always keep my blinds and curtains closed, but strangely the curtains lay open and the blinds were raised.

I woke up that day, without even remembering what I saw that night, I prepared to go to work that was waiting for me about 30 minutes from my house, and there, in the parking lot, right next to my car, was he again, sitting and smiling, looking at me. At that moment, I knew something was happening, I called animal control and they took it away.

Then I went back to my house to try to calm down a bit. Just before I fell asleep, I heard my bedroom door kick, I confused it with the washing machine or some other common sound. That morning I woke up startled, my body froze to see that the same cat lay there at the end of my bed, asleep, even with that smile on his face.

He had endured enough, so I grabbed the cat by the neck, threw him into the backyard and hit him with a shovel to death. During the whole process, he didn't meow even once.

When I was able to regain control of my thoughts and actions, the cat was unrecognizable, its two front legs were broken, the right ear was broken, its ribs were demolished and its face had a huge hole. I could not believe what I had done.

I had to go to work that day, so I put his mutilated body in a box, I went away from the city and buried him near a forest next to the road, you know why? Because I'm an idiot. I was really agitated by what happened, how had that cat come to my room, much less to my house? I didn't want to think about it, so I went back to my house and fell asleep in bed, I fell asleep almost all day, but I wish I had slept longer.

I woke up on my own and was forced to look immediately at my window and saw something that was marked for the rest of my life. It was that cat, with all his body damaged, with a bigger smile than ever, looking at me. His eyes were completely black.

He looked at me and began to move strangely, his broken limbs were shaking unnaturally, his left leg was half shattered and his ear was still bleeding. I screamed and ran for my life, got into my car and went as far as I could from the city.

Now, I'm trying to start a new life in a new state and I hope I don't have to interact with wild animals anymore.
