translucent | invisible snufkin

a few days had gone by, snufkin slowly more difficult to see. his arms were completely gone, and his legs were mostly see through, stopping just above his knees. his face was becoming blurrier, and it showed no signs of stopping.

moomin has come by to see him, but snufkin didn't open his tent. it would be embarrassing to be seen in such a state. despite being slightly invisible, you could still see his red and puffy eyes, irritated from tears, and his skin, dirty and grimey from not bathing.

at moomin house, the atmosphere was quite somber. moomintroll's temper was all over the place, which made everybody else upset. he was extremely frustrated, why did snufkin hate him?? what had changed during the winter? why is he being so incredibly rude? was it his fault?

moominmama would always be there to comfort her son, but even she was getting tired of moomin's
endless whining. she was just as worried as everyone else was, but she was sick of hearing about it.

"i don't understand mama, i have always been so kind to him. i respect his boundaries, even though i don't understand them, i give him meals when he can't catch enough fish, i don't understand why he hates me now."

"i'm sure he doesn't hate you, dear. something has obviously happened during his winter travels that has shaken him up. it's not your fault. he will come out when he is ready."

"but mama, it's been weeks, i-"

"moomin, i understand that you're angry, but you need to let him go. focus on yourself and your other friends."

"FINE! I'LL FIND SOMEONE ELSE!! I NEVER WANT TO SEE SNUFKIN AGAIN!"

moomin ran upstairs and slammed his door.
