Wednesday

Anna's feet hurt from her new Jimmy Choos, but that orgasm had taken the edge off. Good, now she could actually focus and get some damn work done. She had asked her OB about the horny hormonal roller coaster, and the doctor, who was female, just told her "You're 38? Honey, welcome to being in your upper 30s. Likely, it will be like that into your 40s too."

Today she planned to write a memo to every department including three new policies that were sure to cut costs as Mei had directed. This production company had to trim the fat and keep the focus. By the time she finished the memos with the new policies, it was just after five. Time to go home and fix dinner for her nephew, Geoffrey, who should be getting home soon. Or was tonight chess club after school? She checked her calendar. It was. That bought her some extra time.

Mei and Minor, a young executive in the Chen Media company, sat in the main office pool area looking over ratings for the last shows.

"Headed out, Anna?" Mei smiled sweetly. She was too sweet for a CEO, but she'll learn. Victor will see to that.

"Pretty soon yeah, how's it going?"

"Victor tore up my report." Mei laughed with her stress. "No . . . Not literally, he just found at least ten faults with it, but at least he said it was better than last time."

Anna slid into a chair next to Mei. "You'll get it. He'll help you. He knows what he's talking about, so just try to do it. Sometimes the best coach can be a real bag of dicks. Maybe if I had thought to seek help from LFG we wouldn't be where we are now, budget wise. Not that I could have got a meeting with him. I don't know how you did." Well, maybe she did know, it helped to have a fresh, pretty face like Mei did, and then to practically kick Victor's door down. Anna was pretty, but maybe not as crazy determined as Mei.

Anna had run the company as acting CEO in Mei's absence for two years while Mei finished school after her father died. The company hadn't exactly flourished under her care. She didn't feel comfortable changing the format of the show without Mei's direction. The old daytime show needed serious updates, and shorter segments that would work well on Youtube and Instagram. Mei probably should have just sold the company, but it had become a sentimental inheritance for her. So the show's rating dropped lower and lower and sponsors dwindled in a time when everybody was switching to streaming. Could you say Anna had run the company into the ground? Perhaps.Or one could say that she kept it afloat the best she could.

"I told you to stop blaming yourself about that, Anna, you did your best."

Minor said, pouting, "Mei, you've really been spending a lot of time with CEO Bag of Dicks Victor, huh." There goes Minor, on the Mei and Detective Gavin ship. Detective Gavin was Minor's best friend, who clearly had interest in Mei too.

Mei actually giggled at that and blushed a little. "You shouldn't call our investor um . . . that."

"What about GAVIN?" Minor whined. "Aren't you still dating the dashing young detective?"

More giggling from Mei. She covered her smile.

Anna smirked ,"Okay, Minor, you say that like . . . every day, we know! You want her to go steady with your bruh. Mind y' bizznezz."

"You say that because you have Victor picked out for her." Minor snidely retorted, raising his nose and looking at Anna across it, "Why don't you just date Victor yourself?"

Anna rolled her eyes. Was anybody in this little production company professional about anything? Nope. It was a close family. "Oh my. Um. As beautiful as the LFG CEO is, I've dated guys just like him before. Much too stuffy fussy for me. No thanks. And I'm not his type. She is." Anna nodded with her noise at Mei.

"Stuffy . . . for you? You're stuffy! Well, who's your type then?"

"I don't have a type anymore, I don't really date." Anna said smiling. Well, not date, that is.

"Why's that?"

Mei's playful smile moved into her eyes. "Minor, you're too young for Anna."

Minor made a funny sound in his throat that was half scoff half embarrassment. "I'm not trying to hit, I'm just curious!"

"Yeah, nosy as usual." Mei made spirally strokes on her notes with her pen.

Anna sighed and smirked. "I've had it with relationships with men, to be honest, they're only good for one thing."

There was a beat of silence before Mei said, "Oh Anna, you're always so scandalous!"

Minor just said, "Ew."

"What? And he just called me stuffy! Look, my ex boyfriend decided to forget to tell me he was married. Why do I need that drama in my life? You can have it."

Minor raised his eyebrows seriously, "If you say so. Don't you believe in love?"

"I actually do! Just, for other people. I'm done with it." Anna was really really done this time. Just. Meh. No.

"Too much broken heart?" Minor asked with empathy.

"Ah, maybe." Anna raised her eyes to the ceiling. "And I don't need it. My needs are met."

"By who, Rabbit Pearl and Mr. Hitachi?" Minor laughed at his own joke.

Anna groaned with a flabbergasted smile, and flung her head back. The squirrely kid was funny. "Minor, you can't say that stuff at work, do you need to review your HR sexual harassment training?"

Minor widened his eyes, shocked at himself. "Sorry! Sorry! You're right! I am very sorry, Ms. Huang, I won't say that again. I . . . I . . wasn't trying to harass you."

"Sheesh, take your meds!" Anna knew she probably shouldn't say that either, but this is Minor. Adorable little ball of energy - at least he used it to get a lot of work done. He was perfect for ideas and marketing.

"Right, you're right, it's time. I'm gonna take them now." He pulled a prescription bottle of Adderall out of his pocket.

Mei stopped moving her pen. "What? I don't get it. Who's Rabbit Pearl and Mr. Hitachi? Is he your fuh - fuh - F- boy?"

Anna sighed. "Haha, you mean fuckboi. No. They're vibrators, and every woman should have one of each."

Mei looked absolutely scandalized, and Minor chortled.

"Who's your fuckboi!?" Minor said, pushing up on the arms of his chair, already forgetting the HR guidelines.

Anna shifted her purse on her shoulder. "Thanks, Mei," she said sarcastically, "And I'll never tell. Ok guys, it's quittin' time, you're not gonna add a million viewers between now and 6 o'clock. Go home already. And text Victor and tell him thank you for his help."

"Oh, good idea, I will. Right after I finish this spreadsheet. Goodnight, Anna!"

"I see what you did there, Ms. Huang." Minor sang as she walked away. He whispered towards Mei, "Text Gavin too!"
