    THE HOT summer air filled Mattia's room as he opened the window. He paced back and forth waiting for Kairi to arrive. I'm gonna tell him Mattia thought to himself. No, it'll just ruin everything. What if it doesn't? His subconscious argued back and forth up until Mattia heard a slight knock on his door.

"come in, kai" Mattia said, continuing to pace around the room.

"what's got you so stressed, bubs?" Kairi asked grabbing Mattia's shoulder and adjusting him so he faced Kairi

"there's this person, I think I'm in love with them" he said, his eyes drifting to Kairi's lips

"oohh whats her name?" Kairi said leading them both onto Mattia's bed.

"his..." he said correcting the short boy

"huh?"

"his name, it's a guy." Mattia said waiting for something bad to happen.

"oh okay, well whats his name then?" Kairi asked nonchalantly

"y-you're okay with it?"

"yes Mattia, you're my best friend, doesn't matter if you're straight, gay, or whatever the fuck you want to be. I love you."

"I love you, too kai" so much more than you know

"now answer my question, whats his name?" Kairi questioned

"his name? it's Kairi, Kairi Cosentino. He's smart and funny and cute and he's supportive and he's perfect"

Kairi stared in shock me? it's me? OH MY GOD IT'S ME. His thoughts said processing the situation.

"Mattia i- i don't know what to say" Kairi said

"then don't say anything" Mattia whispered

He leaned in slowly closing the gap between the two, their lips touched, years of lust and love and care exploding between them. It was a perfect fit

1 month later

"Mattia." Kairi said breaking away from Mattia's lips and ending the make out session that had been happening

"yes, my love?" Mattia asked

"what happens when school starts?" The smaller boy asked, already knowing the answer

"we have to stop whatever this is" Mattia said giving Kairi a gentle smile

"I know" Kairi said holding in the tears

neither of the boys wanted this to end, but it had to. Mattia could never come out, and Kairi hated keeping secrets. It just wouldn't work. No matter how much love there was between the two, there were so many more obstacles in their way.

"but for now, i want to spend every second with you" Mattia said grabbing Kairi's chin and lightly pulling his head up. "don't cry, my love" he said wiping away Kairi's tears. Kairi gave him a small smile and got up grabbing his jacket

"i'm gonna go its getting late." Kairi said avoiding eye contact

"wait" Mattia said grabbing Kairi's arm and turning him around, "i love you" he said, giving Kairi a long passion filled kiss, which the small boy returned.

"bye, my love"

the next week, school started the boy's' relationship and friendship disappeared, both were to heartbroken to be "just friends" so they decided that ending a friendship that lasted over a decade would be the best option. (worst decision they've ever made)
