*(two months later)*

(Y/N) P.O.V.

It's been lonely ever since Chris left, but you managed. You and Chris messaged, called, and FaceTimed each other everyday. His career really kicked off and the farm was thriving. By now, there was a beautiful friendship between you and Chris, but you felt like you wanted more. But you would never tell him your feelings, in fear of what it may lead to and what might be said.

Tom ruined your love life and any chance you might have at loving again. Hence why you've lived alone for so long. I guess you could say that you were scared of relationships, being close to a person, in fear that one day it would all fall down. But all depressing thoughts aside, you were happy that you had Chris.

You had fed everyone in the pastures and made pretty good time, it was only two o'clock in the afternoon. Being bored, you decided that today would be a good day for a ride, it was nearing autumn and it was perfect riding weather. You slipped on a thin long sleeved shirt and headed out the door, keys to the side by side being twirled around on your index finger. Once you loaded the vehicle up and grabbed a little something extra for the horses and an extra lead rope, you were off to the pasture.

You had saddled up storm with no problem, his large hooves shifting, itching to run. You brought a lead rope for Comet, but decided not to lead him with you during this ride. Once you climbed up onto your giraffe horse, you took a deep breath and looked up at the sky. What caught you by surprise was that there were a few slightly dark clouds above your head. Brushing the thought of rain off your shoulders, you rode Storm out of the pasture.

You will never get tired of riding Storm. The sound of his large hooves clomping against the dirt, the bounce of the ride and your favorite, the freedom to go wherever you wanted, quite literally. There wasn't a fence that Storm wouldn't clear if you told him to. You kept a slow pace as you rode to the end of your driveway, but Storm started to get antsy. So per Storm's actions, you squeezed your heels into his sides and bolted off down the road. Halfway down the road, you had an idea.

Being in a small town, everyone knew you, and you liked to ride in town sometimes so this was a normal occurrence. You finally reached blacktop and decided to slow Storm down to a trot. His hooves hit the asphalt loudly as you trotted down the main road. There wasn't very much recreational traffic throughout your town so you weren't worried. The only traffic that may concern you would be other horse riders, they were very common in your town.

You finally reached the tractor supply store and hopped off of Storm. The thing you liked about this store was that you could bring Storm inside. They had a sort of policy like at pet smart, as long as they had a leash. And since they had very tall doors and everything you could ever need for the farm, you and Storm were regular customers. The cashier smiled as soon as he saw you and Storm approaching.

"Hey (y/n), Storm! Good to see ya here." He smiled and patted Storm's nose as you led him over to the checkout desk to visit.

"Hey Clay, mighty fine to see ya too, just came in here for something for the horses." Storms ears perked up and he jerked his head to look out of the sliding glass doors.

You followed Storm's gaze and you saw that the sky was dark and angry. You sucked in a breath and sighed.

"Looks to be a storm coming, surely you dont want to ride back in the rain (y/n/n)." You shook your head at Clay.

"Not my favorite thing to do, but I left the side by side out in the field."

You and Clay shared a knowing look and you nodded goodbye to him, horse treats long forgotten as you were now focused on beating the rain. As soon as you were out of tractor supply, you hoisted yourself on Storm with such a force that you almost fell plumb off the other side. You regained your balance and unhooked his lead rope and draped it over your neck. You didn't put any saddlebags on him this time so this would have to do.

You jerked Storm and hit your heels into his sides to speed him up. He broke into a full sprint down the road, cars paying mind to you as you tried to beat the rain. Just as you turned down the dirt road that led to your driveway, the heavens opened up and started to dump buckets of rain onto you and Storm. You were soaked, so was Storm, so you slowed down to a trot. Why not, I'm already soaked. You thought as you were halfway down the road. How ironic. You chuckled at the thought. Ha, get it, because you're riding Storm, and it's sto- never mind.

When you were riding down your driveway, it was still pouring. You made it to the field and quickly yanked the saddle off Storm and threw it into the back of the side by side. Everything you owned was soaked by now, chilled to the bone. You tore down your driveway, but slowed down when you saw an unfamiliar truck in your driveway. You pulled the side by side into the barn, not bothering to unload it, and grabbed a yellow crowbar from by the barn door, being soaked was now the last thing to worry about on your list.

You gripped the weapon as you walked up to your porch. There was a bulky figure standing by your front door. You saw the figures shoulders relax and your brow furrowed deeply. But once you saw the figure look up at you, the crowbar was throw to the floor as you ran to the figure. You nearly knocked him over at first, but you held onto him for dear life, while he gripped you tightly and held you close to his chest, his hand on your head, smushing your face in his upper torso as his other arm was completely wrapped around your shoulders. You breathed in his scent and at this moment, there was no place you'd rather be than with him, Chris.

Once I saw the side by side pull into the barn, and I saw her walk up to the porch, there was only one thing going through my head, her. I didn't even notice the crowbar she had in her hands, until she threw it and practically tackled me. She squeezed me tightly and I gripped onto her just as tight. And it was then that I realized how deeply I was in love with this woman, (y/n).
