I blink. "What..." I sit up, smelling smoke. The fire alarm began blasting. I was in my nightgown, I go to open the front door, but the handle was hot. I grab my phone to call 911 and go on the fire exit. (Apartment). "911 what's your emergency?" The operator asks. "Yeah- uh there's a fire in my building. Doorknobs hot. Smoke alarm went off." "Okay ma'am, where are you now?" "On the fire exit." "Okay I need your address." I give her my address and hang up. "We sent someone out about 2 minutes ago." I go down the fire exit, my phone starts to ring. "Hello?" I ask, not looking at the caller ID "Y/N you're okay." Jaden's voice says. "There's a ton of commotion at your building-" "Jaden it's okay. I'm fine." Jaden sighs of relief. "Can you come over?" "Sure."
I hug Jaden the moment he opens the door. "Wow someone's happy to see me." Jaden chuckles. I eye him. "I'm always happy to see you." The statement seems to take him aback. Did I say something- He pulls me close by the waist. We were both leaning in when a phone rang. My phone. I check the caller ID (for the first time ever) and see it's an unknown number. "Probably junk." I murmer but I had a feeling I should answer it. "Hello?" Nothing. Just breathing. "Hello?" I ask again. More breathing I hang up, annoyed. Jaden let's me in. "Who was that?" "Prank call." I mumble. Jaden nods. "I just got a pool installed. I can invite some buddies over. I got s swimsuit that seems about your size..." I nod. He hands me the swimsuit and I walk into a bathroom to change.

At least it's not one of those showy-showy ones. I think. I walk out and Jaden stops what he's doing. "What?" I ask, concerned. "Nothing you look... great." I smile. "Thanks." He invited some friends, a guy I know on tiktok, Payton. And a guy named Owen. We go swimming in the pool
