Our story starts with a young boy. A boy by the name of Guy Solas. His beginning was nothing short of strange. He was found lying in a ruined carriage, covered in blood, no horses or people to be found other than himself. For being in so much carnage you would think that an infant would be hysterical, but the boy was quiet and calm.
Following suit was an investigation of what went on. There was barely anything to go off of, as there were no footprints or trails, and without the proper funds a magician could not have been hired to conduct a proper investigation into the arcane acts of it. If there were any to be found.
He was soon taken to an orphanage in a small village named Dorstan. As he grew up there were many opportunities for him to be adopted, he was a charming child with blond hair, a thin frame, and angular features, resembling that of an elf, and gold, piercing eyes. Yet no one would take him home, he thought it to be his own fault and he was not to far from the truth.
Beginning at a young age he was cold and collected, never doing something without reason. Adults found him strange and could always feel some sort of strange power that they could not place, and it frightened them. Although the more he grew, the more he understood that he was different. He could feel his power grow and he himself began to fear it, so he hid it and forgot about his powers.
On the day of his 16th birthday he joined the guard of Doestan, he enjoyed his work and felt purpose in it. He loved helping people and making sure they were safe. He quickly rose up in rank, quicker than most. His skills with weapons where beyond acceptable. He was a true natural learning swordsmanship and archery quicker than most. He visited the orphanage regularly and donated a portion of his pay to it as well. For he did not resent them there, they had given him a place to live until he could fend for himself, and they had loved him as much as any parrent should have.
Being a guard in Dorstan was not a hard job, in fact it was relatively easy. It was not a highly trafficked area, a few bandits every now and then maybe a pack of wolves but never anything he and a few men could not handle. He soon reached the rank of a guard officer, the only person he answered to was the guard captain at that point. He began to organize the patrols and guard regulations, as well as most training exercises. He became well known in the town and very respected he was enjoying his life.
Time pushed on and he was complacent with what he had. Guy had built himself a home in Dorstan, and a family in her people. Never had he thought about leaving to find something better, because he had everything he needed right where he was.
One day a stranger was passing through Dorstan, Guy knew he was different and powerful. He felt a similarity between himself and the stranger and it frightened him, more than he had been for sometime. Naturally Guy wanted to know more about him, but little did he know the stranger was there for him and he would know more than he would ever have dreamed of.
