There was always a gap in my heart,
No-one I could say I truly loved till you came around.
You jumped into the gap from the very start and refused to leave.
But the gap began to shrink,
Until there was no room left for you to breathe.
Yet you remained seated with your lungs compressed and your heart aching.
Your arms were pushing back against the enclosing walls.
Both drained from our internal battles.
I let you go and reluctantly you left.
Now there's an empty space left in my life again
But I won't leave that gap open
I will fill it up myself
