Dreams & Reality

There was once a boy
Who loved to dance.
It was his passion, his talent;
His solace in life.

Days passed
And still he persevered
Though he was told
He wouldn't make it in his chosen career.

The boy, now a bit older,
Took his dancing to the streets.
He performed for a small crowd
And was euphoric with the ecstasy.

When the heavens opened
And the rain fell down,
His golden hair sparkled in the water drops,
As he continued to dance.

Then one man, not too unordinary,
Came up to him and said,
"Son, I see you have passion.
Never give up on your dreams.

"Strive not to be like others,
But what your heart tells you to be.
Strive to be the best in your career.
Give it your all and you will succeed."

The boy thanked him dearly
And promised to do his best.
He watched with newfound resolve
As the man took his leave.

A couple of years passed
And the boy saw a poster
On the dull brick wall of a building
That caught his attention.

'Auditions are open'
Was all that registered in his mind
As he immediately decided
To try out for the position of a performer.

He practiced harder then ever before
And on d-day, he gave it his best.
When the results arrived, the letter said;
"Congratulations, you've made it"

His heart leaping for joy,
The boy began his training
For his career as a solo performer;
One which he took seriously.

The small entertainment company
Which had accepted him
Grew to be one of the biggest
As he continued to give it his all.

Years later, as he walked out
To perform on yet another stage,
He caught sight of a familiar face
Amongst the throngs of the crowd.

The boy broke down in tears
As he smiled at the figure.
He remembered the man from many years ago.
He remembered the one who had supported him on his path.
