"(Y/n)!" your parents yelled.
You stood in front of your vanity, touching up any last flaws you could find. The heart inside you pumped blood hurriedly to the rest of your body, trying to calm your nerves.
"(Y/N)!!" they called again.
"Be right there!" Your voice cracked. You were scared, absolutely terrified of what you knew was inevitable.
Finally, you rushed through the hall and down the stairs to meet your parents.
"(Y/n)," your father spoke, "the demon royals have arrived."
You gulped as a tall demon came into sight. He wore heart shaped, pink shades along with a luxurious coat. There was white fur around his neck which contained little red hearts scattered around it. He grinned.
"Greetings, princess. I am King Valentino." His sharp teeth glimmered at you. Both of you bowed before he rested his hand on the back of the woman next to him, "This here is Queen Velvet."
Her demented smile made you feel queasy as you greeted her. Afterwards, you looked around, searching for your husband-to-be. He was nowhere to be found.
"Um..." you began, "where is the prince?"
They looked to eachother for a moment before laughing. In her fit of ear-piercing giggles, the queen reached out her thin arm to pat your head.
"Oh he is back at the palace, we thought you could come with us to meet him personally." Her smile was twisted.
Your heart dropped so far, you worried it might make a sound.
Hasty eyes looked to your parents, worried, hoping they would intervene somehow, but you knew very well this had to be done. For your parents. For your people.
Turning back around, you mustered up a smile as best you could.
Valentino clapped his hands and turned around, motioning his palm for you to pursue him. "Come now Princess (Y/n), he is eager to meet you!" Venom coated his teeth.
Slowly, you nodded and turned once more to your parents. They smiled at you, but they're eyes said otherwise. A heavy weight filled the room, pushing on your shoulders. Fighting the gravity along with the many urges to run away or fight, you got one last good look at your parents before following the demon royals.
Your mother's soft weeps and the sound of your father quietly comforting her was short lived before being shut out by the large entrance doors closing behind you.
Outside was a black carriage complete with four black horses, all of which had multiple, glowing red eyes.
You entered and took a seat, it wasn't long before the king began conversing with you."So what kind of wedding would you like, (Y/n)?" The king looked at you excitedly.
Your mouth opened but nothing came out. He quickly intervened.
"How about a fall wedding? It is so lovely seeing the life leave from the earth" he looked dreamily out the window chuckling.
Queen Velvet rushed in, “No no no, I think winter is more suitable. We can stain the snow a pretty red for her to walk down!" Her cackles pierced through your ears.
They laughed as you sat there in silence with an awkward smile. After awhile however, they seemed to get bored of you and began talking of other affairs while you gazed at the landscape.
The scenery began to change little by little. At first, you noticed the land was becoming less fertile. The cool colors in your land slowly turned into warm ones with the addition of a lot of black. Your once sapphire sky became consumed by a dark, ruby one. Once your kingdom was completely out of sight, an immediate homesickness came over you.
