The Decision

It was date night. Last minute date night to be exact - Lisa had been the one to decide at the last minute after having said no to Greg earlier that day. It was their attempt of not fighting with each other - sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. This time Greg hoped that it worked. He had tried to find a babysitter, but there had been no luck. "We are not asking Sherlock" Lisa commented as she attempted to zip up her red dress. "Who said I was planning on asking?" Greg questioned. "Besides Hamish wouldn't mind it" he added. "I would mind it" Lisa commented. "Because he deduced you twice?" Greg questioned as he heard his wife sigh, the male shifted and helped zip up her dress. "No, because he's Sherlock, what if things go wrong?" Lisa questioned. "He can handle it, besides look at Hamish now" Greg commented, the two turned their heads at the same time just as Hamish seemed to hit himself rather softly with the rattle on the top of his forehead, the rattle was being held firmly in his right small hand.

The reaction Greg had expected from Hamish was to get upset although that wasn't the case. Instead the small infant had decided to let off a small giggle before he repeated the action. "He's fine okay?" Greg reassured her before he walked over to the playpen the small infant was in. He seemed to reach down into it to pick up Hamish, the rattle was still in his hand, being shaken slowly which was also expected, Hamish had an attachment to that but also to a teddy bear.

Without them he would cry. Greg slowly picked up Hamish, one hand seemed to have gone to the bottom of the nappy while the other was placed on his back. "So.... to Sherlock?" Greg questioned, moving towards the bed to place Hamish down upon it. "Fine. But if Hamish comes back harmed you both will pay for it" Lisa commented. Greg nodded his head before he pulled on a light blue onesie for Hamish to wear. He had let the rattle go by that point, for once he didn't cry upon letting it go, much to Greg's amazement.

"Okay, let's go" Lisa commented, she had already assumed that Greg had everything needed packed for Hamish, which was mostly right, besides his teddy bear and the rattle that was, plus the car seat was still actually in the car. "Not yet, you can wait in the car and take the bag of what he needs with you, he's not going out without being covered so he's warm first" he commented. Just that statement altogether seemed to make Lisa smile before she left the room taking what was needed to the car before she waited inside of it.

Meanwhile back in the household, Greg had opened a cupboard that was filled with clothes that kept Hamish warm. He seemed to grab a jacket first, seeming to put it on Hamish only a moment later. He then decided to grab a couple of blankets to place around the child in an effort to keep him warm. Greg seemed to shift to the playpen again to grab the teddy bear just at the precise moment that Hamish had grabbed onto the rattle.

Hamish seemed to shake it once more just a few seconds before Greg returned to his side. Greg lifted Hamish up again before he left the house only a minute later with everything in hand. He locked the door behind him using the key that he had in between his index finger and his middle finger. Greg hurried towards the car door at the exact moment that Lisa had opened the back door for him. Greg placed the small child inside of his car seat, having buckled him in just a moment later.

Greg placed the teddy bear beside Hamish's other arm before he moved to the driver's seat after closing the door. It was then that the three of them were off - Lisa was busy trying to keep an eye on Hamish who of course was shaking the rattle he still had in his hands while Greg started making his way to Baker Street. Nothing more was said between the two not even once the three had arrived at Baker Street. Greg had stopped the car immediately the moment he was outside of 221 Baker Street.

It only took a few minutes for Greg to bring Hamish with his car seat of course up the stairs along with the bag of essentials while Lisa remained in the car. Greg seemed to not even bother knocking before he barged into the apartment, along with many things in his hands still - Hamish being one of those things. "Whatever this visit is can it wait?" Sherlock questioned, not moving an inch from where he was lying down on the couch.

"No" Greg commented just as Hamish made a small sound that was neither yawning nor was it crying, it was more like a greeting, although seeing as he couldn't say words yet that was the best he could do. "No, you can't. Leaving a child with me isn't a good plan" Sherlock commented just as he jumped to his feet, Greg however had already placed everything down by John's chair. "This isn't a choice" Greg commented before leaving just as abruptly as he had arrived. Sherlock seemed to grumble immediately, he had already shifted towards the child who had begun to shake his rattle once more.

"A case would've been less dull" Sherlock stated although how dull a baby could be wasn't known to the consulting detective, he hadn't looked after a child before, now would be his test.
