The New Recruit

Chapter 3

Summary: You find out Tony got you the job and want to leave the city but he convinces you to stay. And you go on your first official mission.

"Shit, shit, shit" you hit the steering "It's my second day and I'm gonna be late. Unbelievable. I should've known he was gonna bring me bad luck. I won't even be able to buy my morning coffee ugh" you complained to yourself. The traffic jam was really unbelievable, but that's New York, what did you expect.

You quickly ran to the building after parking. "I'm so sorry sir. It's just there was traffic jam, I know it's not an excuse, but I promise you it won't happen again" you tried to explain to your boss.

"Y/n, Is it okay if I called you that?" he asked.

"Yes, of course" you answered.

"It's alright, this is New York, sometimes even if you're trying to come 2 hours earlier, you'll end up coming 10 minutes too late" he reassured you.

"Does that mean I'm not fired?" you asked.

"Of course not. Hey y/n? Was it just traffic jam?" he asked.

"Well yeah, but I ran into my neighbor who is very annoying and ruined my day" you told him.

Six hours later, you were very exhausted and wanted to speak to the boss "Yeah, yeah everything is fine. Nothing suspicious. I don't think she noticed that the job was arranged... Yes sir... She only said that she ran into some annoying neighbor, should I investigate it sir?" you heard your boss talking to someone on the phone and realized he was talking about you.

You knocked at the door. "She's here, I'll call you if anything changes" he whispered at the phone and let you in.

"Y/n is there anything I can do for you?" he asked.

"I wanted to ask for your permission to take a break" you told him.

"sure. Are you going anywhere?" he asked.

"No, just getting a coffee sir" you left the room.

"Who could that person be?" you kept thinking about who would want to know everything about you, but then it hit you.

"Stark. It has to be". There's no one else you know in the city, other than the avengers and he's the one with money and wide circles of acquaintances.

After you finished working you decided to confront him.

"Hey miss, you can't just go in there. Do you have an appointment?" the girl at the front desk asked.

"No, but Stark will be glad to see me or probably not. Just tell him y/n is here" you informed her and she informed him on the phone.

"He says you can come in miss, just head that way" she told you.

"Stark".

"Y/n. To what do I owe this pleasure?"

"Just wanted to come and check on you. You know the usual" you said.

"That doesn't sound like you" he told you.

"Because you know me so well. Right?" you asked.

"Not necessarily, but from our last encounter I figured" he explained.

"Aah, riiight. So Stark? You didn't tell me how you convinced your teammates to let me go".

"Is that what you came here for? To know how I convinced them?"

"Yeah".

"Well... I'm very good at convincing people. I told them it's not right to keep you here against your will and it'd be considered a crime and they agreed" he explained.
