My head is moving to the beat in my headphones as I skip down the sidewalk to my barista job. I laugh as the pedestrians look at me like I just came out of the asylum. Usually, I feel like I would be consoling myself about the job interviews I've been on. I know that after college, you're SUPPOSED to get a job right out of the gate, but that isn't always the case; at least it's not mine.

I shake my head in an attempt to clear my head.

Nevermind, I can only focus on the present. If I think too much into the past or future, I get into a stump.

The bells ring as I open the coffee shop door. I yank my headphones out. There are already customers. And I only see the newbie here, hopefully, the third person is in the back.

I walk around the counter, smiling at the newbie, Melissa. She's sixteen and a sweetheart. She's a good kid.

"Hey Katy"

"Hey Melissa, how-"

I'm interrupted by the steam of the espresso machine coming by my face. I dodge it luckily, and Melissa sheepishly smiles at me.

"I'm so sorry" her hands as I walk back into the workroom. After placing my purse in my locker, I grab my apron and put it on.

WOW. In a short time, I was in the back, fifteen people were in line. That's fine. Not a huge challenge, we can do it. I walk over to the espresso machine and nod to Melissa as she starts to take their order.

A few hours later and many customers later...

Melissa and I are on the floor of the workroom, covered in caramel sauce from an exploding frappuccino. Better yet, don't ask.

"That was crazy."

"It was a lot, but we covered it. Even with being down a person."

My turn my phone on, I might as well see if the interviewer has any more questions while on break.

My face is excited to see some texts from my bestie telling me about her day. I look at the phone calls, nothing. Well at least I know I have Melissa and my other best friends. Damn this career thing is hard!

I just have to keep faith in myself. If they didn't want me, then I guess it wasn't truly my dream job. They would have to love me as much as I love them.

I turn to Melissa after responding to various text messages and my phone rings, it's the company.
