The dark cover of night buries you,

A familiar ringing in each ear,

The shadows call and are beckoning,

Frequency turning into a gentle song,

A path guided by some force,

Unknown but fierce,

Darkness grows to lush forest,

Bare feet touch too cold vegetation,

Your lungs inhale the fresh air,

This place is cold and a mystery,

Tall vines and large trees surround,

A doe deer ahead,

Alone,

Staring with harsh eyes as if to say,

Be cautious, be afraid,

A step forward and she stands planted,

Be cautious,

Another stride and no movement,

Be afraid,

Your hands reach out to her,

Spreading toward something you long for,

She steps forward,

Her eyes hold knowledge,

The things hidden from man,

She sits and you listen,

Her lips do not move but she speaks,

The voice clear and calm,

Telling you things that you have only heard in old songs and poems,

And things that you have longed to hear for decades,

Your eyes burn with tears,

It becomes too much,

Your vision fades,

She is gone,

Whispers surround you,

The once melodic ringing grows louder,

Becoming thought piercing and painful,

Vegetation begins to decay,

Your body shakes,

You fall,

You down and down,

Further and further,

Air rushing past your ears,

Then a loud voice shouts,

Everything goes dark,

Awakened in a cold sweat during the early hours of the morning,

One utterance of the being plays in your mind,

Tell them to bury you shallow,

For you will return.
