I wanted to be happy, but it seemed impossible. My girlfriend, Sophia, was busy with life, my parents were too busy with their lives, and I was so sick of school and work. I look down at my phone at the time.

It's 3:30 AM on a Sunday morning, and I've been pacing my back and forth in my room for most of my night, deciding what to do. I had overheard Sophia telling her best friend, Jane, that I drank too much and she knew my friends, Shane and Scott, weren't good people to hang around. It was true, I did drink too much. Shane had introduced me to certain drugs and I knew I shouldn't be doing them, but I needed to cope. I never wanted to hurt Sophie, but I guess bailing on her constantly wasn't helping.

I'm out front, my lights are off. Let's get this show on the road the text from Shane says.

I sneak out my window and jump in the car with him and Scott.

"What are you doing, fuck head? My God. We brought some drinks. Cheers to a night of fucking adventure!" Scott says.

He passes me a bottle of fireball, and I chug half of it.

"Oh yeah, and we brought these." He says, handing me a few pills.

"What are these?" I ask.

"Just something that'll make ya feel good. I already took two." He tells me.

I stare down at the pills, then down two, then save the rest. If Scott can handle them, then I should be able to.

Before I know it, we end up at the bridge.

"Hey, you wanna meet some new girls?" Shane asks.

"Why?" I ask.

"Sophia's gonna leave you, dude. She hates us." Scott says.

"Ahh, well.. I doubt she'll leave me over you guys. She's pretty loyal." I tell them.

"Right, loyal enough to say she's sick of the bullshit to James." Scott sneers.

"Wait.. excuse me?" I say.

James was Sophia's ex. She promised me she would never talk to him again when we first started dating.

"Yeah. We saw them in the hallway a few days ago, dawg. It's not like you're doing wrong, don't let her push you around like that." Shane says.

"Fuck it boys, let's party. Bring all the people you want." I finally say.

I was dancing with a girl named Cameron when I blacked out.
