Glass Bottle

In the bottle

Colored candy concoctions

Fill all the way to the rim

Near to the point of overflow

I laugh as a pour myself a handful

Of pastel sugar beads

Savoring the indescribable flavor

Then something quite shocking occurs

The fragile bottle

With glass the color of the sky

Shatters on the hard ebony floor

All the tiny light colored, chocolate spheres

Spread around the ground

Making the dark hardwood alive with color

I lose myself as I stare into the bright spectrum

Then my eyes catch a fragment of shattered blue glass

Snapping me back to reality

I have to clean it up don't I?
