valentine's day
fairgrove . . .

it's the morning of valentine's day and timothy walks into stevies room with a full english breakfast layed perfectly on a brown tray.
sausage, bacon, eggs, toast, mushrooms, beans and a cup of coffee; two sugars and a perfect amount of milk.

he lays the tray on stevies lap and smiles before slipping out of the door, shortly returning with a bright pink gift bag, decorated with two teddy bears with hearts in their eyes.

"happy valentine's day, stevie"

before going any further, timothy takes a picture, wanting to savour the simple memory of valentine's day 2020.

"i love you" stevie simply said.

"love you too" timothy replied.

he's always been a hopeless romantic, either he's watched too many films or he's just genuinely the best boyfriend stevie could ask for.

for a while her memory, and everyone else's, stopped her from everything. firsts, lasts, everything. she didn't want to forget and she got tired of documenting every part of her 17 years of life in hopes that she would never forget. every day being a clean slate just made room for lies and heartbreak and she couldn't handle not knowing anything that had happened through her life.

timothy changed that of course. swooped in and made her forget, no pun intended, about how much the world had hurt her growing up.

in a perfect world everyone's earliest memory would be their childhood, learning to ride a bike, their first day of school, loosing their first tooth.

but in this world, the real world, everyone's earliest memory is waking up that morning and wondering; what the hell happened last night?

it's kind of like, having a hangover everyday just without the headaches and occasional vomiting and well... drinks.

"so, i was wondering." timothy started.

"there's a party tonight and i want you to be my lovely date, but don't worry, we can do all the lovey-dovey-relationship stuff first." he finishes with a smirk knowing stevie is as much of a soppy lover as he is.

"deal." stevie accepts before dragging timothy down for a kiss.

"ugh! guys please, save it." emily, stevies little sister states as she walks into the room.

"mum wants you in the kitchen" she finishes.

a chuckling stevie walks down to the kitchen and greets her mum.

"happy valentine's day, mum" she says with a smile.

"you too, sweetie. did you like what timothy did? he's a sweetheart right? ah." she asks, excited for her daughter.

"anyways, look i'm going out tonight, a date with your father, so what are your plans?" stevies mum asks.

"well, me and timothy have plans to go to a party but if you need anyone to look after emily i won't mind staying in." stevie responds, slightly disappointed for herself.

"you know what, she's 15 i'm sure she will be okay here on her own for a couple hours, i'll tell her to invite her friends over for a bit while we are out." her mum responds.

"yeah! okay sure." stevie replies.

"happy v day, baby" her mum coos.
