The maze. You need to escape. Get out.
Those words, along with her own name, were the only things she could remember. Vera stood shakily, startled by the tall, cement walls covered thickly in deep green ivy surrounding her. Her autumn brown eyes widened in shock as she spun slowly, taking it all in. What was this place? How was she going to find a way out? Why was she put here? The questions flooded her mind as if a dam had broken. Her head pounded with pain, and she took a step forward. She could either go left, right, or straight. Vera stood perplexed, waiting for an answer. When nothing logical came to mind, she guessed wildly and stumbled towards the left corridor.
She ran her hand against the wall to steady herself and to pick strands of ivy off to mark where she had been. When she reached another intersection, she remembered a trick she had been taught while doing small corn mazes as a child. She couldn't remember who had told her, all she knew was that you should keep your right hand to the right wall. Trusting her instincts, she stretched her right arm out further, not taking it off the wall as she rounded the right corner.
She continued this trick until she could hear voices in the distance. From where she was, she couldn't differentiate the separate voices. It all sounded like one voice. Feeling excited and confident in her trick, she continued the long trek. She had no idea how long she had been walking, everything felt like a dream. A messed up, surreal, totally fictional dream. But deep inside her, she knew it wasn't.
Up ahead, Vera saw a clearing where boys of all different shapes and races roamed an open field. She could just barely make out a two story shack and other small sleeping places around it.
Vera rushed through the space in awe. She craned her neck to see that the whole area was surrounded by the ivy covered walls. And now she was crying. Thick tears ran down her cheeks in a steady stream. Not knowing why she was there was or where she was or who had put her there sent a chill tearing up her spine.
Through her teary eyes, she saw a younger looking, chubby boy with brown curly hair pointing to her. Now, more of the boys were staring at her. Even more scared, Vera only cried harder. Who were these people? Who were her parents? What kind of life had she had? Did she do something wrong?
Another boy, who looked to be about sixteen or seventeen, was rushing towards her. He had long blond hair that almost had a peachy hue to it. Following him was an Asian boy who looked about the same age, maybe slightly older. She didn't know if they were trustworthy, so she backed away from them in a rush. The boy with the blonde hair reached a welcoming hand out to her, but she shoved it away. She looked up at him through her black hair that had been flipped in front of her face.
When he spoke, his British accent was thick. He touched her cheek with wide brown eyes and the Asian boy stood a few feet away. He wasn't trying to comfort her, he was seeing if she was actually there. "It's a bloody girl."
That was the last thing she heard before she plummeted into a black abyss of unconsciousness.

So yeah. That was short. But that was just the intro, I promise the real chapters will be a lot longer.
