Chapter 10: Words From the Heart

Yes there was my childhood friend Misty, but...

"Hey Adam"
I haven't heard her voice in a long time, but it was still the sweet voice or my childhood friend.

"Hey Misty long time no see! Why didn't you call me sooner, when did you come back from Russia?"

"Oh I wanted it to be a surprise! So...are you surprised?" Misty said gleefully.

'I doubt this is Misty. My dad, Luis, told me people have already designed tools which can be perfect disguises to impersonate people, such that every feature and voice would be undetected even by their own family. So the question is....can I trust her?'

"Wait a minute why did you say Russia, when I came back from America?" Misty said.

"Oops sorry my mistake" Adam clasped his hands together and apologized with a 90 degree bow. In reality....

'It seems she knows that it's not Russia but America, for now.....let's trust her' Adam thought.

Adam laid out a trap from the very beginning, and that was mentioning Russia, if Misty didn't mention Adam's mistake then she is definitely a fake.
Adam to be honest can be a very distrusting person, that is one of the reasons why he has no close friends in school.

"OH! Heck yeah I'm surprised! Man we have a lot to catch up on!" Adam said cheerfully, because he half-heartedly placed his trust on her.

"Adam...." Misty's face changed sullen.

"The teacher's their topics, were great and..." However Adam, was still blissfully aware of her change in attitude.
"Adam...." Misty's voice became louder, which sounded like she was irritated.

"What is it?" Adam then finally noticed Misty.
'Misty's behavior seems a litte strange, could it be that she really is a fake?' Adam thought.

Adam then took a step back and was about to activate his ability.
But before that thought would finish.
"Adam! Have you really forgotten our promise!??" Misty looked at Adam filled with disappointment.

"Hmm?" Adam was awed.
'Eh? What is she talking about? What promise' Adam searched through his memories but couldn't find a trace of such a said promise.

Misty emitted a long deep sigh along the school corridors, oddly no students were nearby and only the janitor was left, although he was still cleaning outside.

"Sigh....Adam remember you promised to treat me to lunch when I come back!" Misty pouted.

"Oh....OH!!!"
'I suddenly remembered our promise, and the memory that came that day. If memory serves correctly, no one but us should know about it, so this has to be the real Misty!'

"Misty! It's really you!!!" Adam said with a cheerful smile.

"Of course it is me! WHO ELSE COULD IT BE!!!" Misty shouted.

"Oh well you know? Protocol, hahaha!" Adam then laughed.

"Protocol?" Misty thought for a moment and her eyes grew wide.

'It seems she got it' Adam thought.

"Oh protocol" Misty then laughed.
Adam and Misty both laughed, as they remember what that word meant, the day where Fake Gio attacked Adam and she helped him to fight him...together.

"So how was America?" Adam asked.

"Oh it was so-so"

"So-so? But I remember you were so happy that you were going to America, mostly on travelling to new places-" Adam then raised his hand in a shape of a sock puppet, "and yada yada yada".
