"He left you. You're angry." He said.
"He's still my dad, Mack." I replied.
"He doesn't love you, he left you, all of you. Your mom, your baby sisters, he doesn't care about any of you."
"You're wrong." I could feel my blood begin to boil at the thought of what my father has just done to our family, and the fact that Mack had the audacity to even be saying this to me right now. What does she have that Mom doesn't? "I'm right and you know it!"
"Just shut up Mack! Let me think for a minute." My hands tightened around the steering wheel in frustration, my foot pressed against the accelerator, the images around me became a blur. "Wait! Stop! Tyler! You're going to kill us!"
"That wouldn't be such a bad thing, would it?" I hit the wall.
My ears are ringing. My head is pounding. People are screaming. God what did I do? Where's Mack? I felt myself begin to panic. My entire body began to shake, I felt like I was going to puke. I looked to my left, my brand-new BMW was smashed against the now crumbling brick wall of the auditorium. To my right, two LAPD officers were walking towards me, their silver badges catching the light from the sun, blinding me. "Kid, you need to come with us", one of them said. "Why, what did I do?" They didn't answer, they read me my rights, cuffed me, put me in the back of the squad car, and we drove off. What is happening? Where's Mack?!
As I sat there in the stiff brown chair listening to the ticks from the clock against the wall, I could feel the anticipation building up inside of me. My heart rate increased, my palms became sweaty and suddenly, I couldn't sit still. Why are they making me wait? What did I do? I'm scared. I'm here, alone, at a police station, handcuffed like a criminal in an 8'x10', dimly lit, cold room and I have no idea why. "Can I get some Motrin in here?! My head is killing me! Someone please tell me what is going on?!" I shouted. Not a good look, but I'm getting angry.
The door opened and a tall, dark figure appeared, slid me a cup of water and two white pills, left and shut the door. When I looked up again Mack was standing there. "Jesus dude, where have you been? What's going on?"
Mack began to chuckle "You don't remember?" I shook my head no. "Well, before you totaled your sweet new ride, you manage to take out a few people while you were raging or whatever you call it. You really need to get a handle on that temper."
"How are you so cool about this?"
"Don't worry man, I'll always be here" Mack paused, "in your head. You haven't noticed I'm only here when things go wrong...when you're angry?" What? And just like that, he vanished.
