"You look amazing Emma"
"And you look...like shit Rich"
Right as I said that Richie and I looked at eachother than laughed.
"I'm joking Richie, you have always looked good in my eyes"
I flashed him a smile before we all sat down.
"Wait do you got married?" Richie asked to Eddie.
"Yeah why is that so fuckin funny dickwad"
"To a woman?"
"Fuck you bro"
"Fuck youu"
We all laughed at the two fight like in the old days. I missed this, I didn't realize that I did, but I was glad to be here.
"So Richie did you get married?" I almost choked on my drink when someone asked that.
"Yeah didn't you hear" he said looking at Beverly.
My heart sunk down into my stomach. He moved on. I felt vomit come up my throat then stop when he spoke again.
"Me and Eddie's mom are very happy"
Eddie didn't approve of Richie's joked but everyone had laughed so hard. For me I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding.
"What about you Emma, what's going on in your life?" Ben turned to me.
I looked around and then quickly glanced at Richie then back at Ben.
"You know, traveling... dating...the whole grown up thing"
"Dating? who?" Richie said quickly after I finsihed.
"Not anyone right now but you know"
I lied, I had to lie, I couldn't let Richie know I haven't dated since him. I never liked anyone the way I liked him so it was hard to date someone.
"Anyways when is Stan coming" Ben asked.
Everyone went quiet. I looked to the empty seat across from me.
"Stan.." I choked a little.
I pictured his curls and his soft smile. A memory of seeing him at the hospital came back to me right then and there.
I came back to reality and everyone was looking at me.
"Are you okay Em" Beverly asked patting my back
"Yeah, I was just thinking about something"
I faked a smile.
I turned to Richie as everyone else went back to talking. We looked at each other and I read his lips.
"Peach"
"Peach"
I don't know why but that calmed me down a lot, but it also brought back a feeling I hadn't felt in a long while: Love.
