Ok, I am literally getting sick and tired of seeing and hearing about all this violence that's happening everywhere. A middle school Valentine's Day dance just wrapped up at my school and someone brought a GUN. I wasn't there because I had a soccer game, but this scares the **** out of me. I am literally getting to the point where I'm not feeling safe anywhere. I've heard about these happening at almost every place you can think of: schools, churches, grocery stores, homes, or even just being out in broad daylight.
Nobody was hurt, thankfully, but those 11-14 year old kids had to have been terrified. A friend of my friend who was there said they heard a shot ring out and everyone started running out of the building. It's sad that this has become a normal thing in our world.
I understand that we have the right to own a weapon, but what I dont understand, is why do so many people abuse that right and use these weapons, which should be meant to be used for protecting ourselves, to deliberately injure or take the life of someone for some stupid reason.
People are being murdered every day by gun violence, and that is just awful. We shouldn't have to be looking over our shoulders just to know if someone is about to pull out some sort of weapon. I'm 15 years old and sometimes I'm too scared to even step outside my front door to feed my dogs become I'm afraid someone might be around the corner, waiting to attack.
Some people don't seem to realize what they do has an effect on others. Doing something like popping open a chip bag or a balloon can sometimes resemble a gunshot, and doing that somewhere, especially in a school, can scare a kid so bad into thinking someone is coming to kill them.
This crap that's going on needs to end. I don't know how, I don't know when, and I don't know why that person got a gun into the building, but the night could have ended very badly for so many families if things had gone differently.
If you see someone who looks suspicious, or you see someone with any type of weapon who either isn't allowed to have it or brings it onto a place that has banned them, and you think or know they're about to attack someone with it, report it to someone immediately.
I really hope that one day this violence will finally come to an end, but until then, we unfortunately have to keep putting up with this. I really hope you guys are safe wherever you are and never have to experience these kinds of things yourselves.
