Renata struggled against the monster's gross tentacles, pulling a small metal butterfly clip out of her dark hair. She focused her goggles on the monsters chest. (She was wearing them so she could read the menu). She pushed on the ruby red button on the wing of the butterfly, transforming it into a loaded crossbow. She managed two shots, (one to the chest and one in the monster's neck) before the beast exploded. Loose tentacles wriggled across the floor of the poorly lit restaurant. Ren muttered an "Ew." in disgust. She thought about picking up a sandwich on the way out, but thought better of it as a tentacle touched her leather boot. Still hungry, she picked up a pizza at a small restaurant that was, thankfully, monster free, before heading to the hotel her contact had specified.
Lily dusted off her hands as she loaded her backpack with the last of the monsters treasure. Kicking aside a pile of stray guts, she walked through the dim tunnels buried beneath the old courthouse. The nasty booger had acquired quite a mass of loot. She picked her way up a set of dilapidated steps and pushed through a sewer grate in the men's bathroom. A middle-aged man at one of the urinals had frozen mid pee to stare at her. Sliding the rest of the way through the grate, she called up the mist. "Sorry about that, nasty clog in the pipes," she explained. The man nodded and turned back to the urinal, as if this was an acceptable explanation. Smirking, lily walked out of the bathroom, then out of the courtyard itself. She pulled a pair of large, expensive headphones out of her backpack along with an IPhone. She turned on her favorite music, and began the short walk back to her hotel.
Bonny was already waiting outside the hotel with her potted tree. She looked around twenty and was of the Asian persuasion. She caught several glances, though whether it was from her pretty looks or the fact that she was carrying around a tree like it was a purse, Lily couldn't be sure. Bonny smiled a little once she saw Lily. Changing her stride to a quick jog, she quickly arrived at her side. "We ready to go, auntie?" Lily asked as they walked into an alleyway between two hotels. "Obviously," said Bonny curtly. Bonny phased into her host tree as lily eased the plant into her backpack. She then climbed up a fire escape, and finally onto a roof. She then jumped up on a ledge, and kicked off. After freefalling for a few meters, the wings on her shoes eventually opened and caught her. Gathering speed, she quickly crested the clouds and set off for New York.
Lily landed on the roof of the hotel. Shaking wisps of hair out of her face, she strode over to the roof door as if she owned the place. She then took the steps and emerged in a janitor's closet. Lily swung her backpack off her shoulders and placed it on the floor. Taking out Bonny's tree and her phone, she texted her contact. Bonny materialized and peered over shoulder. "Ask her what the room number is," bonny suggested. Lily shrugged her off. "Hush, I'm going to."
<Hey, I'm here. What's ur room number?>
They waited five minutes for an answer. Then ten. "Uuuggghhh, she's not responding," groaned lily. Bonny gave her a look. "Don't you have ways of finding demigods?" Bonny quipped. "Oh, right!" Lily stuck her hand into her backpack and fished around blindly, before pulling out a disembodied nose. "Sic em', boy," Lily smirked. The nose's nostrils quivered, and then Lily was suddenly yanked towards the door, the nose sniffing around excitedly. She yanked open the door, and the nose pulled her down the hall and into an elevator. It rammed into the down button, and began madly sniffing the elevator doors while they waited. Lily wiggled her eyebrows. The doors opened, and she was abruptly yanked into it. The nose pressed the button for the tenth floor. The elevator eased downward. At the twelfth floor, the doors opened and a couple walked in. They gave her a quizzical look. Lily wondered what the mortals saw; probably her waving around a plastic nose or something. The elevator dinged once again, and the doors opened to the tenth floor. Lily then jogged out, closely followed by bonny. After going past dozens of doors, the nose pressed itself at door 1042.
